Recent heavy cattle losses In the north-west will havo an Important bearing on beef cattle prices later in tho year, and is already acting as an incentive incen-tive toward purchnso of stock cattle on the markets. Mutton supplies arc fairly liberal, but continue to run less than at this time last year. Tho market remained steady on good stuff last week, but medium and common grades shaded downwards. Supply Is 0000 head today , market steady and active, bulk of lambs selling nt 7 25 to 7 00. Light lambs were In disfsvor first of last week, but aro now in better demand, 04 lb. lambs selling at 7 50 today and prime lambs would likely to reach 7 05, equal to the top last week.
