Show The Dress Ball. Tht drew (or character) ball given under the auspice of tho Primary Assn. nt the Amusement Hall Thursday night proved to be a success both from a social and financial standpoint. The ball wan packed to overflowing spectators and thoco who wont to enjoy tho dancing out-numbering those dressed for the oc-ciwlon. oc-ciwlon. About forty people in attcn-, attcn-, dance sustained characters and some very handsome costumes were among the characters represented. A number rcprc-) rcprc-) aentud characters soncwhat ludicrous, ! but .created considerable laughter for t"ie I spectators. It would be unjust to single out a few of the characters and give them special mention as others would be offended by so doing. Every character represented was well sustained and all present had on enjoyable time. Owing to lack of time and space tho list of characters and persons who represented them will ncccs-A ncccs-A sadly have to bu omitted and simply a " general roferenco made of the whole n flair. , Among the characters were: Jockles, Indians, Japanese, Flower girls, Valentine Valen-tine girls, Little Red Riding Hoods, Walters, Ncgros, 8nowflakcs, Nurses, ; Snowballs, Night, Morning, Hobos, Hans Hansons, Georgo Washlngtons, Old Timers, Fencing Girls and a Chinaman. The refreshment booth, decorated with henrts and valentines, where lunch, peanuts, pea-nuts, candy, lemonade and popcorn were disposed of, was welt patronized by all present. The eotlon-flllcd dough-nuts thut were passed atotind'tcreatcd considerable con-siderable merrimont. A grand character charac-ter march, led by Jos Klrkham and Mrs Leo Clayton, was a pleasing feature of the evening. No prizes were given as the association needed the funds and thought It advisable not to oiler prizes. The Garland Dance Orchestra furnished the music. Miss Maggie Sasier represented the Garland Milling Co. and The Garland Globo was represented by Mis Mary n Bo wen. ' The total receipts from the dance and Wednesday afternoon's party given to the children amounted to 154. The expenses ex-penses wore 120.50, leaving a balance of 83.50 on hand. |
