Ho says ho has usod both chains and tho old stationary stanchion, but has como to consider his plan superior to cither of thorn. Tho end pieces aro of hardwood, and nro one foot long nnd three and n quarter Inches squnro. Thoy nro mortised to recelvo tho sldo pieces, as shown In tho skotch nt bottom bot-tom of illustration. Tho sides aro fixed to tho ends with 'bolts, which bolng looso enough so It Is movable. Whon tho sldo falls, ns shown on tho flguro on tho right-hand sldo, tho clevis raises and whon tho sldo comes back Into position again tho clovls falls as shown In tho left-hand flguro and holds It securely. Mr. Somplo says this stanchion, Including material, mate-rial, labor, etc., should cost from 60 I to 75 cents each. |
