Show B4 The Emery County Review, Tuesday, September 30, 2008 VOICES Celebrating the People and Lifestyle of the San Rafael Swell Area RECOGNITION BACA Escort The Southeast Utah Chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse had the privilege once again this year to escort the Helper Junior High Cheerleaders onto the field to do their halftime show at the Helper versus Mont Harmon game on Sept. 17. This has become a yearly event. After escorting the cheerleaders onto the field, Mr. Montoya and the student body presented the BACA chapter with a thank you plaque for all BACA does in the community to help protect our local children from the evils of child abuse. Great Native American Display Thanks to Owen Olsen and Tammy Lacock for letting the Ferron Library use their Native American items for the library’s September display. The patrons appreciated looking at the handmade arrowheads, arrows, drum, hatchet, club and dolls. Come and check out the Ferron Library. Spartans Honored as Academic All-State Seven Emery High students were honored as Academic All-State members at half time of the Emery High football game on Sept. 26. The Desert Morning News and Utah High School Activities Association sponsors the program. Five members of the Emery High Golf Team and two members of the Emery High Tennis Team were recognized as Academic All-State members. The students have a combined grade point average of 3.997. Winners of the award include: Tennis Team Members Adrie Weihing and Rebecca Lofley. Golf Team Members: Casey Wood, Jason Giles, Tayler Tanner, Justin Cox and Adison Collard. There were 10 Academic All-State Golf Team members recognized in the state this year and five of them came from Emery High School. HOROSCOPES BY HOLIDAY Crossword From Page B2.
