Show -N E W S- Covering what matters most Spanish Fork WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2008 • A5 Obituaries Dale Floyd Stevenson Grace Ann White Thomas Sept. 10, 193O-Dec.3,2OO8 Our dear, sweet, loving mother, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend, Grace Ann Thomas passed away peacefully Dec. 3 at her daughter's home. Grace Ann was born Sept. 10, 1930 to Lois J. and Verl Williams White. Grace Ann graduated from Spanish Fork High School and began a career as a beautician. She married her sweetheart, Allan Banks Thomas on June 22,1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. Grace Ann operated a beauty -salon"" in her home. _She~Iater owne4 and operated The Silhouette Beauty Salon on Main Street for many years. Those who knew Grace Ann loved and respected her. She loved to cook, was a wonderful homemaker and took pride working as a beautician. She was a hard worker and meticulous in all she did. Grace Ann was a wonderful mother. She loved being with her family and especially with her sweetheart. They were seldom ever apart. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in numerous callings. She is survived by her five children, Don W (Connie) Thomas; Ned W (Fayrine) Thomas; Kay Thomas (Dave) Perkins; Ann (Eric) Haymond; Joe L (Sydney) Thomas; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and numerous adopted children and grandchildren; one brother, Dan W. (Claire) White; and one sister-in-law, Jessie White. Grace Ann was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Edward White; and her Eternal Sweetheart, Allan. Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. at the Crosswinds 2nd Ward Chapel. Interment in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www. vvalkerfamily mortuary*: com Budget meeting scheduled for Benjamin Cemetery Kathleen Olsen STAFF WRITER The annual Budget meeting regarding the Benjamin Cemetery will be held on Thursday, Dec. 11, at 7 P.M. at the Benjamin Church. Residents who are in the Benjamin Cemetery District are encouraged to attend this meeting. Discussion on plans for the future improvements for the cemetery will be on the agenda. Residents are invited to bring ideas for improving the area and to plan to donate some time to work-On these improve~ flients. (Benjamin -Cemetery is one of about four cemeteries in Utah that runs mostly on donated , labor.) During the past year the parking area has been leveled and graveled and the west side of the road im- proved to allow more parking, the southeast corner has been prepared and made ready for more grave sites. Colton Anderson completed a huge project as his Eagle Scout project. He made plans and completed an Information Board showing names and locations of grave sites. Thanks is expressed Colton, his parents, and the others who helped complete this great project. One or two new board members are needed on the Cemetery Board. Anyone interested in being involved in this community function, please contact one of the Board members or the Utah County Commissioners' Office. It is hoped a good crowd of Benjamin citizens will attend the community cemetery meeting and help in the discussion of future improvements. Dale Floyd Stevenson, age 76, of Benjamin, passed away Dec. 2, 2008 due to declining health. Dale was born in Payson, Utah on Feb. 15, 1932, the oldest child of Floyd C. and Ora Brimhall Stevenson. He learned the value of hard work and commitment at a very young age while working for local area farmers. He was educated in Payson schools, graduating from Payson High School in 1950. He entered the University of Utah on a scholarship in 1950. While at the "U", he was a member of the Air Force R.O.T.C. Rifle Team. He was a veteran of the Korean War enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1951, and ultimately became a Radar Instructor. He married JoAnn Bradford in the Salt Lake Temple on June 23, 1953. After receiving his discharge in 1955, he enrolled at B.Y.U. receiving a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering in 1960. He began his professional career at Kaiser Steel Company and subsequently was employed by Marquardt Aircraft, U.S. Steel, and as Plant Engineer for the Kellwood Corporation. As a result of a wide spread economic depression in the early 1970s, he changed career fields, accepting employment with the Industrial Commission of Utah as a Safety and Health Inspector "and Consultant. He later transferred to the Utah State Risk Management Division as Loss Control Specialist, retiring from this position in 1994. After retirement, he and A T L A W three friends formed a successful Safety and Health Consulting firm. He also served as an expert witness in numerous court cases involving industrial injuries or fatalities. He enjoyed lifelong hobbies of construction, woodworking, welding, metal working, and auto repair. He had a reputation of being able to fix or repair anything. For many years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his brothers and immediate family. Some of his most enjoyable experiences were associating with his many friends many of whom were lifetime friends. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Aaronic Priesthood Teacher, and a lifelong calling as a Home Teacher. He and his wife served as Temple Ordinance workers in the Provo Temple for several years. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Benjamin; sons, Alan (Mary) of Kenniwick, WA; Brent (Marianne) of Santaquin; Wayne (Jean), of Meridian, Idaho; daughters, Janet (Craig) Bott of Payson; Jolene (Richard) Clark of Brigham City; and a daughter-inlaw, Jeana of Monroe; 23 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren- He is also survived by brothers, Farrell J. Stevenson, Payson; L. Dee Stevenson of Payson; and a sister, Carol Laycock also of Payson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Darrell Stevenson; his son, Glen Stevenson; and a grandson, Scott Stevenson. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Mountain View Hospital for the excellent, loving care they gave to Dale. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008.
