Members of the student council made a lofty goal of collecting 2,500 non-perishable items for the local food bank. Principal Jarvis, being the good sport she is, offered up her face to receive a pie if the student body could meet the goal. Students brought in canned food items, peanut butter, cereal, and other food items to be donated. The final tally was 3,162 cans. Students are anxiously awaiting the assembly in January, 2008, where Mrs. Jarvis will have pie all over her face. The student council would like to thank the parents and students for their support during the drive. Each grade level prepared a song to perform for the rest of the school. Mr. James also entertained the school with songs and accompanied the students while they sang. It was a great way to bring the spirit of Christmas to the school. The students cheered as their teachers were transformed into calling birds, ladies dancing, maids a milking, leaping lords, and other festive characters. This assembly kicked off the week of sing-ins and performances by the students. Pictured above is Mrs. Montgomery as a partridge in a pear tree. Loafer Musicians performed their Christmas concert. The choir, conducted by teachers Don Applegate and Pat Bradley, put together a beautiful concert with many traditional Christmas classics, as well as new and novel verses. The students also added to the performance using drums, guitars, and other fun instruments. We appreciate the hard work these students and teachers went to in creating such a great evening.
