Show I A Fayette News Ruby Hammond Marge Harward and Suzette Beach were in Bryan Head for the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Gilbert of Las Vegas. They then went to St. George for the sealing of Amanda Beach to her parents Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Beach also of Las Vegas. Sherie Ewles, Kurt and K.C. and Mrs. Ruth Ewles were in Ewles, Salt Lake City to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Woolsie. Mr. Bruce Cooke, and son, Chris, of West Valley, and Patricia Cooke, of Kearns, spent the week- end with Mr. and Mrs. Roy COoke. Mr. and Mrs.Warren Jensen and Phyllis Sorensen were in Salt Lake to go to the airport to see Brother Clay and Sister Sybil Westlund, of Salt Lake off for their mission to Hong Kong. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Sam Skaggs, of Murray; Mrs. Robert Maxwell and Mr. and Mrs. Tcrral Huntsman, of Sandy. Barbara bates of Salt Lake has been visiting Ruby Peterson. Evelyn Kiesel and Marsha were in Salt Lake keeping doctor appointments, they also visited Mr. and Mrs. Walter Petty, Mrs. Ruth Murdock, Mary Kiesel, Paul Velquez. Virgie Nielsen Thanksgiving in Clearwater, Florida with her daughter and Arlene and Val Warner, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was accompanied her grandsons and granddaughters Wayde and jane Sorensen, their sons, Brett and Steven of West Valley City. She reports it was a lovely holiday, visiting with thirty family members, including four great grandchildren and a grand daughter in law Virgie had never met. It wasnt all sunshine and blue skies, as they saw the ravages of a tropical storm strew debris over the city and blow over fences. Virgie and her daughter, Arlene were awed with the Festival of Trees. Wayde, Jane, brothers and sisters rented a 12 passenger van and visited Epcott Center one day; another day they camped and canoed. The family held a picnic at a park, and virgie was thrilled at the skill of grandsons while waterskiing. Virgie had a great vacation thanks to all the family. She reported, however, that it was the first time in 53 year that she had not spent Thanksgiving with her husband. Douglas Eugene Christensen, 30, died December 16, 1988 in a Gunnison Valley Hospital. Bom in Hawthorne, California, January 1, 1958 to Sherman K. and Carol Young Christensen. He was a playwright and a journalist; and member of the LDS Church. Christensen wrote a play that is set to premiere during next summers ;shakespearean Festival in On Wednesday December Young Women were surprised by the secret project given by their Leaders. The girls met at the church and then were taken to Caroldine Gilberts home where they were treated to a candlelight dinner. They were served with a ham dinner with all the trimmings. A fashion show was given by their mothers, dressing up and acting like the girls. The mothers told of some of their own teenage experiences and the girls had to guess which mother it was. They all enjoyed playing games and visiting togethers. Mr. and Mrs. Morrel Lyman visited Saturday in Salt Lake with Mrs. Loma Jensen. Many of the Fayette high school students participated in the school Christmas Music festival held last Friday night in the high school. Mr. and Mrs. Randy Pickett hosted the Pickett family Christmas party Saturday afternoon at their home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Claude Pickett and family, of 14 the Survivors Cedar City. While attending Utah State University, Christensen worked at the Utah Statesman and was also editor of The Thunderbird newspaper at SOUTHem Utah State College, in Cedar City. Christensen worked at the Deseret News from 1981 to 1983 as include his and Darlene Bartholomew met Mr. and Mrs. Craig Blumel and family at Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Bartholomews home in Orem, on Sunday, and they all enjoyed the day together. All the Young Ladies of Fayette held a homemade gift party at Vicky Kings home THursday evening. Sunny Brown was a special out of town guest. Rod, of REdmond; sisters, Mrs. Brian (Lori) Dumas, Susan and Emily, all of Redmond; Diana, New Rochelle, New York; Nephews, Chandler and Tristan; Niece, Camille, all of Redmond; Grandfather, Clifford Christensen, of Redmond. Funeral services were held December 19, 1988 in the Redmond Ward. Mr. and Mrs. John Davis, and daughter Kayley, spent the day past week with Mr. and Mrs. John Bartholomew of Logan Ivan and Bessie Mellor were overnight guests at their sons Kurts place in Salt Lake Saturday night. Sunday on their way home, their grandson Adam and Brandon Moore, of Orem, came home with them for the week. Cecil Bown is now home from the hospital recovering from a hip operation. He is reported doing good and feeling much better. Mrs. Shirley Nielsen of Springville, held their family Christmas party Saturday night in Spanish Fork. Loma Bown, Bob and Janice Bown and family, and David and Danielle Bown, all enjoyed meeting with the family for the party. Dennis Bown is home from college for the holidays. The Utah full time missionaries were the full time speakers in sacrament meeting Sunday. Elder Beckwith, and Elder Molefx, and Kathleen Cox sang the Lord is My Strength. On Monday evening December 12, the Stake Single Adults had their Christmas at the Ward Cultural Hall. The Relief Society Presidency and Secretary composed of LaPreal Olsen, Donna Vee Sorenson, Phyllis Cowley, and kathy Patterson prepared a delicious ham dinner. Julia Sorenson arranged the special program. Those participating were Essie Sorenson, Bemitta Mecham, Stella Jensen and Ronda Bartholomew, who sang; Maghan mecham and Sheryl Steiger who played piano solos, along with Joan Newman and Heidi Draper who gave readings. On Tuesday , evening the Relief Society had their Christmas party. Each one brought a pot luck dish for the dinner and goodies for the tasters table. The program was presented by Anna Mae Quamberg, her daughter, Christine Sampson, from Glenwood, and Rula Warren, Joan Newman also gave a reading. On Wednesday night the Primary officers and teachers and spouses entertained at a party with the Bishopric and their wives as special guests. Sharon Mecham and Sherrie Sorenson were the officers in charge. Thursday Night the Axtell Club had their Christmas Party at the Simarrillion. Rex and LaPreal Olsen planned the evening. Saturday the family of Bemitta Mecham had their family Christmas Party at the Ward Cultural Hall. All eight of her children and their families were there to enjoy the special time together. Todd Sorensen was happy this weekend to visit his parents, the Lynn Sorensens and to attend the wedding of Willard Simkins, and the homecoming of David Caldwell. Sharee Sorenson also visited at her parents home. Shannon and Loren Wad-stei- n visited Sunday with Joan and Doug GILlies in honor of Dougs birthday, December 19th. Miles and LaPreal Jensen were the speakers in Sacrament meeting. Music was furnished by the Ward Ladies Choir who also participated in the Stake Festival of the carols on Sunday evening. Kaye Despain is recuperating at home after same day surgery on her knee and shoulder at Utah Valley Regional HOspital, in Provo on Wednesday. Don and Eunice Despain were in Salina for birthday celebration for one of their grandchildren at the home of Jarae and Scott Lee. Lynn and Rilla Dee Sorenson and Dick Phyllis Cowley enjoyed a lovely Christmas Buffet at the home of Bob and Ar Lou Edwards on Sunday evening along with other friends. La Veil Despain will celebrate his birthday December 23. Happy birthday wishes to him ant others who may be celebrating birthdays. 6. Saturday was the day set for the UDell Johnson family Christmas party. The activities took place at the Gordon Johnson home. A delicious dinner was served before the gifts were opened. Games were played until late night. Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Terry Hansen, Midvale, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Jensen, Centerfield and Jody Johnson, St. George. The North Sevier Middle School production of A Christmas Carol was presented this past week. Congratulations to all who participated both on and off stage in this darling Musical. Roxanne Johnson, Salt Lake was here Saturday to watch the musical at the Middle School where two of her sons participated. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Johnson and family were in Richfield Sunday morning to attend the missionary homecoming for Staci Jackson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Jackson. The Evan Mickelscn famtheir held Christmas party at the ily Church. Dinner was served and games were played. Evan and Marge handed out presents that woe eagerly opened before the party concluded. Steven and Cheryl Mickelscn Cucamnga California and Dick and Carol Ann Russell of Salt Lake City were visiting at the Edris Mickelscn home this past weekend. Camp Christine Daughter of the Utah Pioneers held their Christmas meeting and party at the home of Jenett Hales last week. The lesson was given by Cheryl Hales, Sue St. Pierre entertained with Christmas songs and Mary Christensen gave some Christmas readings. Presents were exchanged and refreshments were served. Seventeen were in attendance. The town has been saddened and shocked to learn of the death of Doug Christensen, son of Carol Christensen, Redmond and Mr. and 17-2- Clair L. Tollestrup Clair L. T ollestrup, of U tah bom June 13, 1909 passed away November 29, 1988 in West Covina, California. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and was a former Professional Boxer. Survived by his wife, Louie Tollestrup of West Covina; 2 daughters, Constance Mae Stubblefield, and Janice Lynn Evans of Downey; 1 son, Jimmy Clair TollestrupofWest Covina; 1 brother Jay Tollestrup of Salt Lake City, Utah; 1 sister Beth Harward of Utah; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 3, 1988 in the LDS Ward chapel in Baldwin Park. Services were under the direction of Custer Christiansen, West Covina.
