Show THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Volume IV, Issue IV Page 3 June 1, 2001 Members of Post 129 Keep Patriotic Tradition Alive By Shanna Francis Ogden Valley News Staff Members of Ogden Valley American Legion Post 129 have been providing a patriotic honor guard ceremony on Memorial Day at cemeteries in the Valley for the past 46 years. The number of veterans participating in the traditional program are dwindling—what is seen as a good problem, as only another major war could dramatically increase the number of Legion members. Currently Post 129 provides a total of five Memorial Day programs; one at each Eden cemetery, one in Liberty, one in Huntsville, and one in Mountain Green. Post 129 also contributes to Boys State and Girls State programs at Weber High; provides packages for the needy at Christmas time; supports and helps veterans procure benefits they are qualified to receive; hosts an annual patriotic oratorical contest; and provides military honors at veterans’ funerals as requested, and presents their surviving family with an American flag. Post 129 currently has just under 200 members, and auxiliary and sons of veterans associations. Membership in the American Legion is open to all veterans. Honorary memberships are also available. For more information, or to join the Legion, call 745-3802, or 745-3576. *Don Stoker *Kay Wood Haynes Fuller *John Hislop William Poulter Clark Olsen *John Hislop Ray Davis *Reed Carver Gene Mack Stallings James Bailey Ken Sutton *Bing Martin Rex Fuller *Mike Wilson *Donn Smuin Rex Fuller *Deceased members Ogden Valley to Host 2001 Parade of Homes 1958 - 1960 1961 - 1962 1963 - 1964 1965 1966 - 1968 1969 1970 1971 1972 - 1973 1974 -1975 1976 -1977 1978 - 1979 1980 - 1981 1982 - 1983 1984 - 1985 1986 - 1987 1988 –2000 Ogden Valley has once again secured the prestigious position of hosting one of the coveted sites of the 2001 Parade of Homes.
