Show Volume XV Issue II The Ogden Valley news Page 19 January 1, 2008 Huntsville Wrestler Honored Weber High School wrestler Lew Woolsey was honored as a StandardExaminer Standard STAR on December 4, 2007. The 17-year-old Huntsville resident is a Weber High senior. Lew Woolsey A week before being honored, Woolsey won the 152-pound division at the Evanston Invitational by defeating Bryan Luthi of Star Valley, Wyoming with a final 8-2 score. The Warriors placed second overall at the tournament. Commenting on the tournament, Woolsey stated, “I thought [it] went really good. I have some stuff that I can work on, but for the first of the season, I thought I did pretty good. I feel a little nervous since I took (state) last year. I want to make sure that I take it again. I need to get better in every area—conditioning, wrestling on my feet and on the top and bottom.” The Standard-Examiner quoted Weber High wrestling coach Jody Warren as stating, “[Lew] is a returning state champion, a captain last year and a co-captain this year. His biggest strength on the mat is his mental toughness. He wins matches because he never gives up. Mentally, he breaks kids that might be better than him. He’s a brawler. He has a great grip and a lot of strength and endurance. He just pounds on kids from whistle to whistle. He’s a great leader by example.” After high school, Woolsey stated that he will probably go on a mission for the LDS church. He would also like to go to college and study mechanics or welding . . . and wrestling.
