Show Page 14 The Ogden Valley news Volume XV Issue II January 1, 2008 Yikes! It’s Time to Think About Valley PTA Officers for 2008-09 It seems like we’ve just gotten started and it is already time to put a call out for next year’s officers! At our December PTA meeting we will create a nominating committee that will nominate the people running for next year’s board. Usually, that means compiling a list of people who we think are great community contributors, and then proceeding to beg them to step up and volunteer. If we have more than one person interested in an officer position, we will then hold elections at our Spring General Meeting held at the 2nd Grade Puppet Plays. If we have only one person per office interested in volunteering, then the board votes to approve the new board of officers. Following is a list of positions that will be voted upon. Community members are advised that they are eligible to recommend yourself for a nomination. Voted upon will be a President, President Elect, Treasurer, Secretary, and Legislative Representative. If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact Melissa Lewis at 745-3039, or write a letter stating your interest and turn it into the office at Valley Elementary. We are still in great need of a President Elect. This person would be President for the 2009-2010 year. Please think about joining our fun (okay…crazy) board if it is the right time for you. Will your kids all be in school? Have you ever been interested in this kind of a leadership position? That year will be the first year in the newly remodeled school, and you will still have the wonderful help of our fundraising coordinators (lifesavers!). Please talk to any of the current board (or past officers) to get a perspective of what this volunteer position entails. Monthly Meetings Open to All Valley Elementary PTA meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the teacher’s lounge. Community members are invited to attend. If you have an issue or idea you would like to have the PTA discuss, please call Melissa Lewis ahead of time. On rare occasions, meetings are cancelled or moved to a different time, so please call the school to confirm that the meeting is taking place as planned. Please Leave Your Shoes at the Door! Hamster Mazes By Montana Wayment, 6th grade reporter The sixth grade had to make hamster mazes as part of an assignment for art and for math. The mazes all had to have a diameter of no more 2 meters. Also, they had to have certain math signs in the maze. Students then raced hamsters in their mazes. Everyone had a chance to race a hamster in their maze. The four hamsters that raced were Peanut Butter, Phatso, Pooperdink, and, Lafawnduh. Students placed food for the hamsters at the end of their mazes so catered by the Hearthside of Eden. the hamsters would be enticed to find it.
