Another Happy Soldier! Susie Gordon, I would like to thank you for the great care package I received yesterday. This is my third deployment to Iraq and this was the first time I have received a care package from someone outside of my immediate family. It was truly an unexpected blessing, but that is how God works isn’t it. Please let the parishioners and people of Ogden Valley know that they have made an old Sergeant very happy, and I pray that God keeps blessing them so that they can be a blessing for others. Thank you once again. Master Sergeant Billy Clayton Note: This letter to the editor is in response to items contributed by Valley residents for Christmas care packages that were recently mailed to our troops serving overseas. Soldier Thanks Valley Community for Care Packages Let’s start by saying, “Thank you!” Yesterday I received the package that you and your group sent me. I will also have to thank Frank and Denise Kruk. Frank and I have served together many times. I shared the package with the rest of my guys yesterday. It truly brought some joy in a difficult time. A buddy of ours and fellow soldier was shot in the head while conducting offensive operations yesterday. When things calmed down, we tried to find some normalcy; the box you sent aided in this process greatly. The soldier that was shot will be fine, and is expected to make a full recovery. Thank God. All the guys enjoyed the snacks and were picking through it like kids on Christmas morning. We enjoy hearing that folks back home care what is going on here, and not so much the political agenda but the burden that these guys here carry. Special Forces soldiers take what goes on over here personally, and strive to fix things so that more American lives will not be lost. I, and many others, am Christian, and pray Psalms 90 - 91 for covering. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for caring, and God bless you and the United States of America. Sincerely, Troy Pruitt CW2 Troy Pruitt (180A) AOB 5320 Baqubah, Iraq Community Still Looks Out for Their Neighbors To my guardian snow angel, “Thank you!” Let me start by saying I live on North Fork Road in Liberty and I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to the person or persons who plowed out my driveway for me on Wednesday, December 19, 2007. It was very much appreciated, and I wanted to let that person(s) know that I really appreciated it. I tried in vain to get my snow blower to work and couldn’t. I had no choice but to leave my house because I had to pick up my elderly mother-in-law’s medicine, plowing my way through the deep snow to get out of my driveway. So, imagine to my surprise, when I returned, which I was dreading because I couldn’t get my snow blower working, to find someone had plowed me a path. It’s nice to know that someone still does look out for their neighbors. And I am lucky, someone also drove into my driveway the next day to make me a path and I want to thank that person as well. I thank my blessings for these guys looking out for me. Great big hugs to all who helped me—and may help me in the future. Sandra Knowlton, Liberty So Many to Thank—Valley PTA Board doing a great job One of the greatest benefits to being on a PTA board is being surrounded by such talented and involved people. So many times this fall I have been relieved to find the following women going beyond the call of duty to fulfill their volunteer positions on Valley’s PTA Board. Wendy McKay and Jodi Richardson put together and oversaw an awesome Walk-a-thon and wonderfully coordinated Fall Festival. Vonnette Kerr and Linda Knowles ran a successful Book Fair where I didn’t even have to lift a finger. Kim Poulsen amazes me with her perseverance. Who would’ve thought that PTA taxes could be so involved? Kim Iverson mans the fastest cash counter around and she always balances. Even better, she read my mind when I was out of town and sent out a flier about the Tshirts that I had forgotten about. Randie Tuttle and Emily Fuller, you’re great! Ask the teachers how delicious the Taco Salads were during the Parent Teacher conferences; no detail was overlooked. Together, Kylie Bushell and Lori Hogge coordinated this year’s Reflections, putting in many hours to organize and award the 165 student entrants! Definitely a job for a whole committee! Without fanfare, Michelle Bassett quietly collects our boxtops, receipts, and milk caps; then counts and packages them and sends them in . . . and the school ends up getting cash! What could be better?
