She is survived by her husband, Elvyn, of Roosevelt; daughter and four sons: Wilda (Norman) Tanner, Mapleton; Gordon (Sharee) Bascom, Clearfield; Glen (Louise) Bascom, LaPoint; Dale Bascom, Phoenix; and Kent (Karen) Bascom, Orem; 23 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; brother and sister, Elda Goodrich Birchell E. Birchell Elda Goodrich Birchell, age 84, ofRoosevelt, died at her home Thursday, April 9, 1998. She waa born November 17, 1913 in Bluebell, Utah to Leslie Bruce and Almira Hancock Goodrich. She married Garnett Birchell OctoberSl, 1939 in Roosevelt; later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. He died March 19, 1990. Elda really eqjoyed gardening and working with her flowers; she was honored with the Roosevelt City Beautification Award in recognition of her beautiful yard ... at age 82! She was a great cook and homemaker and was immaculate about her home and self. She was a dietician in the Roosevelt hospital and also worked as a beautician for many years. She was an active member of the LDS Church. Eldas special love was for her kids snd grandkids. She is survived by children and spouses, Boyd and Frances Birchell, Salt Lake City; Norman and Sharon Birchell, Roosevelt; Pamela and Lariy Bryson, Salt Lake City; Barry and Ann Birchell, Ballard; Dennis Birchell, Big Timber, MT; Patricia and Blaine Bailey, Salt Lake City: sisters, Veda Barnes, Bountiful; VelvaOwen, Salt Lake City; Larene Salt Kimball, Lake and Perry Manwaring, Claremont, CA; and Hope Williams, Spanish Fork. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Genevieve Mangum, Hazel Hilbig and June Andreasen, and one grandchild, TV Bascom. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 11, at 11:00 a.m. at the Roosevelt LDS Stake Center. Virginia Jackson, St. George; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Samantha Hathaway Burton. She married Travers Nielson March 7, 1939 in Craig, Colorado. He died December 9, 1992. Jenna Vieve loved crocheting, handiwork, tatting, yard work, and genealogy. She worked side by side with Travers on the farm and was the volunteer cemetery record keeper for many years. She is survived by a daughter and son, Taline and Keith Horrocks, and Clinton and Catherine Nielson, all of LaPoint. 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Rae Gurr, great granddaughter, Emmily Boren, brother, Thomas Burton and sister, Wanneta Caldwell. He eqjoyed playing the harmonica and singing You Are My Sunshine. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and he loved animals but most of all George loved being with his family. George wss a very loving and kind person. He dearly loved little children and they loved him. Married John Hyrum Keel, Jr. February 15, 1925 in Vernal. He died June 19, 1971. Opal loved to crochet, quilt, read and enjoyed traveling. Her family was her life and she loved to be with them and worry about them. She is survived by five sons and one daughter. She lived in Vernal until age 12, when her father bought a farm near Roosevelt. She graduated from A1 terra High School. She then attended a Beauticians school in Salt Lake City, and was a hairdresser fin- - over 60 years, until a month before her death. She married Elvyn Ira Bascom ofVemal November 29, 1937, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They celebrated their 60 wedding anniversary in November of 1997. Venice loved life. She loved her husband and children and all whom she came in contact with, she loved to sing and sang with the Relief Society sisters, and many ward choirs. Venice was a great listener and had an understanding heart. Her friends loved to talk to her, because they knew she would understand and help them feel better. She was also known as a peacemaker. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in the Primary, Sunday School, Young Womens, and Relief Society organizations. She and Elvyn served a mission to Atlanta, and in the Georgia from 1982-8Provo LDS Temple from 1983-9She had a deep and abiding testimony of the restored Gospel, and was anxious to share the joy of the Gospel with others. She was baptized as. a young girl in the old Vernal Tabernacle, and attended many Church meetings then. It brought great joy to her to see the Vernal Tabernacle remodeled and dedicated into the Vernal Temple. 3, 3. She was bom March 19, 1916 in Vernal to David Elmer and Leona Goodrich Manwaring, the third of six children. Bill and Veva Marett had Veva's nephew Lee and Laura Marett visit with them. They had spent the night at the home of Lee's Uncle George and Edythe Marett. They came from Thutcher Arizona. While here they also visited Roger and Dawna Marett and their son Dustin before he leaves for his mission. Duchesne Mother's club was held April 2 at the home of Barbara Rowley with Carol Wright and Yvette Thomas acting as Drama students from Duchesne High School: Eric Puatross, Maren Farnsworth, and Izlie Draper entertained the ladies with their outstanding mono-act- s and drama presentations. These drama students are soon headed for the State meet. Plans were also made for the upcoming Senior Tea to be held May 14. This tea, which honors the graduating seniors of Duchesne High School has been a for the Mothlong time er's Club. Officers for the 1998-9- 9 year were elected. Joy Robbins will serve as president, with Marie SpenArtamesia cer as Mecham os secretary, and Nancy Wager as historian. Several new were discussed and added to the club's agenda for next year. A chicken salad luncheon was served with an Easter motifT used for decorations. Christine Nation of Bridgeland and her family had an open house for her 80th birthday on Saturday, April 4, at the Gateway Senior Center in Duchesne from 4 p.m. There was a large crowd of family and friends. She is just recovering from a stay in the Roosevelt hospital. Jennie Merkley has had her brother Roy Chatwin and his son ofOrem out to visit with her to help her get her garden spot ready to plant.
