Every administrator, every teacher, every teaching specialist, every custodian, every spec ialist, e very custodian, every specialty worker, every counselor, every food service worker, every office person, every bus driver, every parent volunteer, and many of the students all think of what is best for the whole when they are considering an activity within the halls of Union. There is a great spirit of cooperation and collaboration working at Union. The many activities occurring within the school are all considered important to education, so support is required from all. Many of the teachers in different departments collaborate to present students the best information known about any given subject. For example, recent workshops presented on reading have spawned some really fun and helpful strategies to help all students get more from reading texts or any other reading material. The new Mentor Program has given less experienced teachers support from cooperative seasoned teachers during their transition to teaching into a high school setting. The JPAS program has all teachers checking teaching habits to see where they can improve instructional methods and attitudes. The athletic departments get cooperation from volunteer teachers and parents when they need ticket takers and sometimes other support activities. PTSA and other parents have been in school to help with SATS and parent teacher conferences. The Health Department has been in school to help with Health and PE classes and to give flu shots and check-up- s for teachers. The Uintah Basin TechUtah State and Center nology University cooperates with Union so students can have an enhanced education. The Ute Tribe extends their help in many ways and offers their Adult Lab for many students to use. The Alternative School is an example of how the cooperative effort at Union has an effect on all. Even entities outside of the Basin have cooperative programs within our school like Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search. Union High School opens early in the morning and some sort of cooperative effort occurs from early monring until late in the evening. Examples are the Drama practices every early morning, the make up computer lab after school, the sports and workshops later ip the day. Much that happens in our school does not receive accolades or acknowledgment from others outside the come into our school to see the great cooperative efforts being made to educate those soon to be turned out into the world teens. The hundreds of people who work together at Union each day to make sure students are prepared for life after Union don't care about that They do, however, really care about the fs students! average Learning is finding out what you already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know itjust as well as you. You are all learners, doers, teachers. Richard Bach |
