Union won four matches and those are the highlights with the wild match ofthe night for the Cats and Rabbits involving Lane Genereaux, who proved to be the General on the Mat as he made Eric Western surrender like Lee did to Grant during the Civil War due to an 18-- 9 152 pound triumph. However, it wasn't as easy as the final score indicates as Genereaux had a battle on his hands and it wasn't Bunker Hill. He jumped out to a 0 lead with a takedown and near fall, and led after two rounds, 1 All ofa sudden, Western turned Genereaux south to the mat and put his shoulder blades in danger land, but Genereaux refused to lose the fight as he twisted free without any help from General Patton or Eisenhower. He shot down Western for a reversal and a couple of near falls to win by a huge margin ofnine ' " points. Union was behind 28-- 2 priort1 the Genereaux win and then added victories at 189 and 215 pounds to add some mat glory along with a 103 pound win that had given the Cougars a shortlived 0 lead. Cory Bastian, Union, 215, battled a Delta wrestler with a Union High School sounding name ofSteve Huber. A Union Steve Huber won a state championship in 1970. Christensens prayers were answered when he scored a takedown in overtime to win the bout.
