She was next to the youngest and the last of - seven brothers and sisters. She married Cecil Y. Mitchell April 7, 1933 in Duchesne, Utah and they were later sealed for Time and all Eternity in 1963 in the Cardston, Alberta, Canada LDS Jan. 4, 1977. Ardella was an active member of the LDS church and a graduate of BYU. She began teaching school in Roosevelt in 1932 and taught until her retirement in 1965. Roper May 22, 1936 in Arcadia, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple October 4, 1938. Verl died March 22, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her son and his wife, Alan and June Turner Bessie Dean Turner, 91, died January 2, 1998 at her home. Bessie was bom November 18, 1906, Vernal Utah to Sheldon Dean and Samantha Dean. She was a caretaker at Camp Richardson, South Lake Tahoe, since 1952. She is survived by son: John Turner; step sons: Frank Turner, Bud Turner, Bill Turner, J.E. Turner, Jack Turner; Stepdaughters: Rose Garl and Gearldean Cunningham; Grandchildren: David Turner, Deanna Turner, Skyler Turner; Great Grandson, Derek Clelan. Cremation is under the direction of Fitzheniys Funeral Home and Crematory. Services and Internment will be held in Roosevelt, Utah on Memorial Day weekend, May 1998. Hazel Christine Wardlc H.Wardle Hazel Christine Wardle, age 91, of Pelican Lake, died January 7, 1998 in Stewarts Care and Rehabilitation Center. She waa bom January 26, 1906 in Salt Lake City to Emmett Lee and Luraine Jensen Izor. She married Austin Wardle in March of 1924 in Vernal; their marriage waa later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died May of 1964. Hazel was a lifelong resident of the Uintah Basin. She ranched in the Hill Creek area after her marriage and from 1937 to 1951 operated the Ouray Store. She waa also the postmaster in Ouray for some 25 years. In her spars time she loved to do ceramics, crochet, and make afghans. She was an avid reader and consequently seemed to know something about everything. Hazel is survived by children: Lee and Alberta Wardle, Torrey, UT; Ray and Frances Lou Wardle, Neola; Peggy and Hank Barela, Pelican Lake; 12 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 34 step great grandchil- - It's Your JLmt (Ctam Leland D. Betts L. Betts Leland D. Betts, age 68, passed away January 4, 1998 at his home in Vernal, Utah. He was bom August 22, 1929 in Roosevelt, Utah, a son ofAlbert and Effie Morrill Betta. He married Mildred Tanner on February 23, 1957 in Elko, Nevada. Leland waa in the U.S. Army and served in WWII. He worked at the Phosphate Plant for 29 years, and then retired. He was a member of the American Legion, Dinah Square Dance Club, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints, Vernal 4th Ward, leland enjoyed square dancing, camping, hunting, and most of all his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Thelma Gurr, and brothers, Lynn Betts, and Clint Betts. He is survived by his wife, Mildred T. Betts, of Vernal, Utah, daughters, Vickie Boren, of Vernal, Utah, and LeeAnn, and husband Bill Martin, ofVemal, Utah; Grandchildren, Cody, Cole, Ty Leea, W.D., and JaLee; Brothers and sister. He waa bom July 24, 1936 in Roosevelt to David Clifton and Lucy Ellen Johnson Jenkins. Jimmie was a mechanic and was a Veteran, serving in the US Army. He is survived by a son Johnnie (Vickie) Jenkins, Idaho Falls, ID, and daughters, Teresa and Penny; grandchildren, Alexis and Justin; mother, Lucy Murphy, Roosevelt; brothers and sisters, Clifton Wayne Jenkins, Morgan; Morris D. Jenkins, Von Edwards, both Roosevelt; Louise Nelson, Layton; Carol Butterfield, Midvale. Funeral services held Monday, January 12, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Hullinger Olpin Mortuary. She is the daughter of Jeff and Joan Evans, Jodie and Carl Reilley were also there. Kenna Foy, wife of Leo Fqy passed away on Saturday evening. Her funeral will be held in the Duchesne Stake Center on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at ' 12 noon. Lois Stansfield had her Annual Christmas family party at her house on Christmas day.
