ON THE JOB TRAINING... INTERNSHIP Internship is a program which enables students tp try out their job skills and obtain first-han-d knowledge of ah occupation while working with a professional. Internships enable students to gain valuable work experience, sometimes in positions that would otherwise be inaccessible. Internships fosters relationships between schools and local businesses, especially in promoting consistency between curriculum . and employer expectations. Internships are available in the Uintah Basin at Union High and Uintah High. Students selected for the ard, Internship program are expected to have completed introductory course work in the area in which they would like to Intern. The Internship process consists of the following: The student applies and is selected The student identifies three businesses or agencies as possible sponsors A coordinator recruits and establishes training internship sites The sponsoring employer interviews students and makes a ' selection Prior to the internship, the student, coordinator and business sponsor meet to determine intern training, schedule, procedures an policies.
