Road Closings precede early season snowfalls Senior Citizen llevrs Today, during the morning, the Social Security man is at our Senior Center, S miles .west of Roosevelt He is at the Duchesne County courthouse after 1 p.m. If you need more information, the number at the center is and the numbers at the 1 or courthouse are 6825. Sometimes you may get a busy signal on one of the courthouse numbers, if you do, try the other one. You will almost always come through on the 738 number to the courthouse. Everyone in Neola area should keep in mind that Hie Neola school is feting grandparents and Senior Citizens on Thursday, Nov. 18, with a special program at 2 p.m. You are also welcome to visit classes before the program, so come early and get to know the new Neola school. The council, at their last meeting, approved the December schedule which includes a meal at the Duchesne Center on Dec. 2, an extra meal at the Neola school on Thursday, Dec. 11, a bus trip to Salt Lake City for the Festival of Trees on Dee. 19, and your choice of three restaurants on Dec. 80. The December bingo at the Senior Center will be on Tuesdays after lunch. They also decided to have the buses going to the meals, remain until 1:30 so that there will be more time for programs and visiting after lunch. More programs will be planned to add to your entertainment and information. This year the energy program, which includes subsidies for fuel Mils, is being administered by the Social Services office. Applications for fuel bill assistance are being sent out today and tomorrow and should be received by those who have had help with their fuel bills in the past, persons on SSI and those who are on welfare. Many of those who have sent in their names to the Unitah Basin Association of Governments will also be included. If you are one of these people, you should receive the application sometime next week. Some of the things that have to be verified include: low income (one person, $4,738 or less, 2 pie, $6,263 or less), copies of your fuel bill, and you will nave to make out an application. Persons who cant get to the centers where applications will be taken, should call the Social Service office in Roosevelt, or Vernal, or call the Senior Citizen office. The lady from the Social Services office will be at the meal to explain the fuel assistance program. The man from Green Thumb will also ask for services that need to be added to our program. The Utah Department of Transportation closed several popular summer recreation area roads for the winter season on Friday,, Oct 81. of the Signs advising motorists closures have been posted at the following locations: Mirror Lake Road, from the snowmobile parking lot six miles above Kamas to the Bear River Service Station near the Wyoming state line. SR-6East Canyon Road, from Salt n County line (MP 7.8) northerly to the junction with SR-6- 722-429- 6, 3: at Mt 5: Lake-Morga- 6 (M.P. 18.8). Jay Christensen, public affairs manager for the company, Chevron increased its donation from $3,300 last year because the program had shown such positive feedback.
