Show Thursday, November 13, 1980 John Lemon, a teacher at Altamont high school baa been chosen by the American Inatitute for Foreign Study (AIFS) at Greenwich, Conn., to accompany a group of atudenta to Europe. AIFS is the oldest and moat experienced student travel organization; it haa arranged foreigh travel programa for more than 250,000 atudenta and teachers since it waa founded in 1964. Group members of La Vie Pariai-enn- e et la Vie en Provence, 5 Weeks, pend one week in Paris studying the French language and culture at the .y. "I like the idea, especially for children having problems," said Mrs. Teresa Munn. "They should have two or three, although the kids shouldn't miss that much school." She suggested they be held in the evenings with parents encouraged to make the effort to go. "I was impressed. The teacher seemed really interested in the kids." So said Mrs. Ann Norman, adding, "I have called the school twice, not knowing this was coming up." Organised by the Utah State Office of Education, these programs feature sntatives of 14 major post-higinstitutions which draw Utah students. Uintah Basin Area Vocational Center will also be included. Union high school's program will begin at 8:60 a.m. with a short orientation program. After the orientation, students may visit three of the schools. In addition to the above listed schools, Hollywood Beauty School will be represented at Union. At 11:50 al h a.m., a financial aid presentation will be held with Dr. Russell Whitaker, Utah State Office of Education, outlining financial aid available to the students.. He will emphasize the money available, not only through scholarships, but through grants, work-stud- y programs, and . federal, state and local loans. Parents are encouraged to attend this portion of the program. Duchesne, Tabiona, and Altamont high schools will combine their program at Duchesne high school. A meeting Wednesday evening will be held for the parents. This meeting will acquaint them with the financial aid that is available.
