ELECTORAL VOTE IS COUNTED RESULT OF NOVEMBERS BATTLE AT LAST ANNOUNCED senate and hous meet in joint ses sion and declare roosevelt and fairbanks elected although the result of the den bial election was known early on tho the evening ot of november 8 it was not till wednesday when the senate and house met in joint session that theodore roosevelt and harles W fair banks were officially declared to be elected tor for four years beginning march 4 1900 this quadrennial function ot of congress attracted to the house chamber where the elec electoral toTal vote was canvassed an immense gath ering prominent among them being mrs roosevelt miss alice roosevelt the presidents sister mrs cowles and mrs charles W fairbanks wife of the vice president elect president pro tera frye ot of the thop senate presided and delivered the announcement of the result of the count which showed that roosevelt and fairbanks received electoral totes notes and parker and davis the whole proceeding on fumed exactly fifty minutes thereby establishing a new record in counting the electoral i note ote
