COLD GOLD WAVE IS GENERAL many persons frozen to death as re suit of severe weather not during the last six years has the equal of the present cold weather been experienced in the west and in many places no such low temperatures have been recorded since the lish ment of the weather bureau the cold wave extends from can ada to the gulf of mexico and from the rocky mountains to the atlantic freezing weather is reported all through trough the south in the north the mercury has registered all the way from zero to 45 degrees below ivo the latter mark being scored at rich land center wis trains everywhere from the west and northwest are anywhere any here from two to twelve hours late and from the packing of the snow in the cuts it is expected that it will be several days before the roads are able to revive the schedule time of trains several peo pie have lost their lives the majority of the fatalities being in the south west where the distances between houses and towns are great the loss of cattle on the ranges particularly on those lying in the northern part of the tier of states will be very heavy
