Show The National Enterprise, August 24, 1977 Page nine City wants industry analysis The industrial profile of Salt Lake City may be analyzed if city officials are successful in their quest for a $100,000 grant to pay for the project. According to Jack Ockey of the local office. Economic Development Administration, Salt Lake City is competing with one other city in the Rocky Mountain Region for the grant, and with possibly seven other cities in the nation. He said about $700,000 is available in a national fund for experimental planning grants, and each city is encouraged to apply for 10-sta- te between and $50,000 $100,000. Roger Stowell of the city Intergovernmental Relations office said the $100,000. if awarded by EDA would pay increases your purchasing power at for salaries to a staff trained in economics and statistics. Its job would be to check the accuracy of existing data, gather new data, analyze the figures and project trends. The study would concentrate on the western part Stowell said, of the city, defining the area as the northern boundary of the city, as far south as 2100 South, west of Redwood Road and as far west as the Great Salt Lake. Expecting the $100,000 to last one year, Stowell said he is hoping another grant could be won during a second year, when a master plan could be developed, utilizing the data gathered during the first year. Road change could hurt Holiday Inn The Holiday Inn at the airport, located at North Temple and Redwood Road, may be affected by a proposed design. But change in 1-- 80 general manager Jim Hire said he would wait to see proposed signing before he worries about the potential effect the modified transportation system may have on his business. The Utah Department of Transportation last week announced plans to bypass the North Temple and Redwood Rd. intersection by building a temporary ramp connecting the present end of (apRedSo. and proximately 2nd wood Rd.) to North Temple at 2100 West.
