The proposed location is 6075 South State Street, Murray. Finance America is a wholly-owne- d subsidiary of Bank of America. Last year it established 18 offices in California, and has applied for permission to establish 10 more in strategic markets this year, including one in the Salt Lake area. According to A1 Cady, spokesman for Finance America, Ogden is No. 23 on the firms list of desirable markets, which means it may be the target for a branch application in 1978. Finance America is headquartered in Allentown, Pa., and operates 350 offices in 33 states. Bank News I, ,'3 First Womens Bank has gained approval to establish a unit bank at Third South and State Street but until it is built, temporary facilities will be located on the mezzanine in Auerbachs Department Store. The First Womens Bank hopes to acquire the 300 South State property and build their own building soon. Proponents of the application are Janet J. Racine, Helen S. McEntire, Marge L. Sevy, Richard L. Skankey, Barbara S. Jensen, Lionel L. Drage, Wilma McCarroll and Dr. Jonathan Horne. 'h & K i. United Savings and Loan Association held its West Jordan grand opening Saturday, Jan. 15. The addition of this branch brings to four the number of United Savings and Loan facilities in Utah. The West Jordan branch, employing 8 people, is approximately 3500 sq. feet. United Savings and Loan Association has assets of about $35 million. Bank of Utah received permission from the Department of Financial Institutions last week to establish a branch bank in the vicinity of 700 East 9400 South in Sandy. Approval was granted as a result of the growth in the southern part of the valley. Bonneville Bank, formerly referred to as Village Green State Bank, received approval of its application to establish a unit state bank in the area of 1600 North 200 West, Provo. The application was protested by area competing banks because of the number of bank facilities which have been erected in the past 18 months. Protestants felt too many banks, too soon, competing with the small banks was detrimental. W.S. Brimhall, Commissioner of Financial Institutions, however, felt the need was sufficient. Far West Bank has gained approval to establish a branch bank in Salem, Utah County. Their application was protested on the grounds that the request came too soon after the opening of the unit bank in Provo, and questioned the need for a branch serving a population of just over 1,000. W.S.
