For the flrst time in several years, on Wednesday, July 21, the Roosevelt American Legion baseball team won the region 9 baseball championship by downing its arch rival from Vernal in both games of a double header played on the Fort Ducheane field. 20 YEARS AGO At a brief, but impressive ceremony Monday night, ground was officially broken and the site dedicated for Duchesne County's new courthouse that should be completed in approximately one year. 30 YEARS AGO Roosevelt Salvage Committee making arrangements for local stores to handle cooking greases. Utah Agricultural Extension Service officials this week called on Utah housewives to save and sell fats and greases as part of the national fat saving campaign. The Ashley forest has an unusually good forest fire record this season. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hunt, Allamont, a TEMPLE RITES Announcement is made this week by Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Giles of Morgan, of the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Korinne, and Mr. John M. Hullinger of Roosevelt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis G. Hullinger. The marriage will be solemnized August 24, in the Ogden LDS Temple, with a reception that evening in the Milton ward cultural hall in Morgan. An open house August 31, at the Hullinger residence in Roosevelt will also honor the couple. Miss Giles is a graduate of Morgan high school and also Brigham Young University at Provo, with a BS degree in clothing and textiles, and is currently employed at Geraldine's Bridal Boutique, Provo. Mr. Hullinger graduated from Union high school at Roosevelt where he was active in athletics and student government He filled an LDS mission in the Northern States and is majoring in Therapy at BYU. The couple plans to make their immediate home in Roosevelt and will later go to Provo where the groom will continue his studies. S A few of the Roosevelt Safety Baby Sitting clinic graduates who were not mentioned in last weeks article are Lorie Duncan, Davily Wilkerson and Julie Wills. Lorraine Shields became SHIELD Mrs. Kevin Litster in a Temple ceremony on - LUSTER WED Lorraine Shields, Roosevelt, became the bride of Kevin A. Litster, Wellington, in a double ring ceremony in the Salt lake Temple, June 14. Officiating at the ceremony was Elder George R. Wooley. Lorraine is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shields and the bridegrooms parents are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Litster, Wellington. A reception honored the young couple June 15 in the Roosevelt Stake center and the bride and groom received guests and family in a setting of gold before an arch with baskets of white gladiolas and blue carnations, adorning it. The bride wore a long white polyester gown with lace inserts, with solid lace collar and full sleeves, with fitted cuffs, trimmed in lace. The full skirt was fitted with a ruffle, at the bottom. The veil was waist length and fell from a crown. She carried a bouquet of blue and white carnations with white ribbon streamers. Her matron of honor was Colleen Gardner, a sister of the bride. She wore as her gown a floor length floral, and carried a bouquet of blue and white carnations. Bridesmaids were Joanne Shields, Robin Lister, Beverly Shields and Tami Litster. The girls wore floor length blue floral gowns and carried baskets filled with blue and white carnations. The brides mother wore a blue floor length gown adorned with a blue and white carnation corsage. The bridegrooms mother was also dressed in a blue floor length gown and wearing a corsage of the blue and white carnations. Douglas L. Litster was best man at the wedding and the usher was Dr. Jerry Gardner. The wedding cake was three tiered Qckdtim topped with a minature replica of the Salt Lake Temple, a bride and groom and bridesmaids. It was trimmed with white and blue floral. In charge of gifts were Diana Litster, Una Wilkins, Thelma and Cindy Shields and Michelle and Cindy Ross. Debbie Merrill sat at the guest book. Master of ceremonies for the program was Wanless Shields. The program consisted of a vocal solo, sang by Norma Hanson, a dance by Lynelte Frandsen; vocal duet by Fran McKay, Rhoda Bench, accompanied by Diane Olson; Violin solo by Arvell Hanson, accompanied by Gwen Richens; a dance by Colleen Gardner, a vocal trio by Melinda Frandsen, Denise Frandsen, Leanne Lube and a reading by Joanne Shields; Diane Brown a vocal solo accompanied by Diane Olson. The bride wore as her going away ensemble a pantsuit. For their honeymoon trip the couple chose to go to the Moon Lake resort and visit the LDS Temple sites in Utah. They will make their home in New Jersey where the groom is stationed with the U. S. Army. I O DPT, polio, mumps, measles and rubella injections are available at public health offices. Temporary office hours are schedueled for Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at the Roosevelt Elementary school. Duchesne Office days are Monday morning, Wednea-da- y afternoon and Friday all day. COUPLE SPEAK VOWS IN . COME Mrs. Dean Frandsen was hostess to the Neighborhood Sewing eluh, July 25. She served a salad luncheon to fourteen members and a guest, Mrs. Ida Alvey. The evening was spent sewing and Just A Mere club Mrs. William Linck entertained the Just a Merc bridge club July 26 at her residence. A desert lunch wu served and an enjoyable evening was spent playing bridge. The prizes were won by Mrs. Ida Harrison, Mrs. Ed Labrum and Mrs. J. D. Walker.
