Show Lakeside Review, Wednesday, April 15, 1987 Local quilters can Kaysville tryouts set enter USU show Entry forms and rules are now available for the 1987 Festival of the American West quilt show at Utah State University July 31 through Aug. 8. The quilt show, in its ninth year, is seeking entries in large, small, feature, wall hanging and display only categories. This years theme for the feature category is Scrap Bag Anything Goes." About 55 quilts will be accepted, but all quilts must first be entered in area competitions to be considered for the Festival of the American West quilt show. There will be a $5 registration fee for all quilts to help with transportation costs to and from the show. The $5 will be refunded to those not qualifying to be displayed at the festival. Prizes will be awarded for best of show, peoples choice, feature category and top overall scorers. On Aug. 8 there will be an awards reception, lecture, tour of the quilt show as well as quilting demonstrations throughout the day. May 13 Monte Vista School is again sponsoring a community school class in basic Valley Elementary Lakeview Midland Elementary Country View, Classes will be held at the school on Wednesday evenings from 5 to 6:30 p.m., beginning April 15 and continuing until May 20. Jean Emstrom, a communicative disorders specialist at the school, will be the instructor. The class will be for students who have had little or no previous signing instruction or experience. There is no age restriction for participants. A registration fee of $20 will be charged to defray costs of presenting the class.
