Doesnt that sound lazy? But the busy Knowlton Elementary School fourth grade teacher and retiring president of the Davis Education Association doesnt have much time to contemplate laziness or music. Mrs. Crabtree plans to leave her position with the DEA in a few weeks for personal reasons. Mrs. Crabtree has been called an excellent teacher by her fellow workers, principal, students and parents. She has the unusual position of teaching only part of the school day. Her comes in the afternoon, giving her more time to help with the business of the DEA. We are the first teachers in the (Davis) district to teach part days but they are doing it in all . er 1, school board to let us try it. It works wonderfully. It will give more teachers a chance to work around other interests, Mrs. Crabtree said. A West Point resident, she enjoys walking and looking at the stars in the evenings and especially baking bread. My husband, Booth, is a retired military person and I think he is a genius, She said with a sparkle behind her bright s' Mrs. Crabtree feels teacher education should be changed. Now it is like a carpenter who goes to class and they show him the hammers and saws for three years, then ' for three months they have him watch a building being built, she said. The first thing you notice when you walk into Mrs. Crabtrees classroom is a large gazebo in one corner that her husband built. Her other loves include her children and five grandchildren whom she likes to take to the zoo. The youngest of her four children is serving an LDS Jeannine Crabtree Church mission in California. When he started school, I started college. I graduated from Weber State College and have a masters degree from Utah State University in special education.
