Show Page 6 Millard County Chronicle Progress Mav 10 1990 COMMUNITY EVENTS WalkAmerica Pink Ladies Day successful despite windy weather The President Millard Fillmore Library Gwen Librarian Hunter Fillmore Utah 25 South 100 West The theme for National Library Week was "Exploring the Library " so to the students of the help celebrate Fillmore Elementary School explored the Library on April 30 and May Mrs Hunter Doris Rasmussen and Zola Beckstrand of the Library Board served as guides and conducted the tour from one story center to another In each nook and cranny there were stuffed animals and a few animals being These ladies in costume storytellers read delightful stories over and over again to different groups of students All the txxiksrcad may be checked out of the library Serving as storytellers were: Helen Mitchell Linda Judy Sip Warner Kelly Carter Lori Kofocd Sandy Wade Arlene Bartholomew Annette Day June Kelly Pat Jenson and Suzanne Limburg We wish to thank all the adults participating the school for their cooperation and bussing of the students There were a total of 526 persons involved The library staff hopes the students had as much fun as the adults See you in the library Dathel Whitaker KANOSH Hope and Orville Kimball were happy to have their son Steven wife Tamara and two children Jason and Jennifer stop by to sec them The family was moving from Chesterfield MO to Fresno CA Steven was employed in St Louis in a plant science field and was being transferred to Mo Steven and Tamara also have two daughters going to BYU Mildred Harding has returned from Cal where she attended funeral services of her nephew Jeremy Prows Millerson of Glenn H and Ella Mae Prows Miller Ella Mae was a former Kanosh resident Other family members in attendance were Mildred’s brothers Eric Jean Raymond and their wives her brother Dan her sister Zclda Mathews and husband Alan of Scipio Wendell Prows and Alta Prows Shumway weren’t able to attend During his brief life Jeremy Prows Miller of La Habra established a legal landmark and painted landscapes Both were difficult feats The landmark came in 1978 when Jeremy’s parents used a federal law to win him the right to attend regular school classes even though he had been a quadriplegic since being struck by a car when he was 3 He was the first in California to use the law which requires "least restrictive access" for the handicapped The landscapes were the paintings and drawings he laboriously made holding pens and brushes between his teeth His paintings lined the hallway of the Fullerton church where a crowd of about 350 many of them former classmates at Sonora High School attended his funeral Jeremy died Friday at Friendly Hills Regional Medical Center in La Habra after he had been found unconscious by his parents on T uesday at their home The hose to his respirator had become disconnected as he slept and the emergency alarm failed to sound his mother said For 6 years before his death Jeremy had been unable to use his arms and legs He breathed with the help of a respirator he carried with him in his wheelchair He had been hit by a car as he ran across the street near his home in 1974 when he was a toddler The injuries almost killed him and severely damaged his spinal cord B ut those who recalled the young man during the funeral at Die Church of Jesus of Christ of Saints Slake Center said Jeremy laughed a lot joked and loved to follow sports especially the California Angels Said his father: “One of his crowning achievements and one he was very proud of was achieving the rank of Eagle Scout Whenever he set his mind to something he never wavered" In addition to his parents survivors include three brothers and a sister Burial was at the Loma Vista Memorial Park in Fullerton CA c HOLDEN Cherryl Ph: Congratulations to Jason North son of Celine and Dean North on his recent mission call to the Philippines He will be entering the MTC in June The baby daughter of Wade and Madcan Lemon was blessed and given the name of Tara Mae in the Holden Ward last Sunday May 6 All of Wade’s and Madcan’s family were here for the special occasion Shirley and Claude Hendrickson visited Shirley’s brother Don Turner and wife Verna and Shirley's three sisters Bemeice and Tom Stephenson Marjorie and Melvin Stevens and Ellen Stevens for a few days last week Visiting Lucille Stevens last weekend were her son John wife and daughter They came for their nephew Tim Stevens baptism and confirmation Tim is the son of Roger and Loma Stevens Jonathan Lovell was baptized Saturday afternoon in the pond at his home by his father Tom Lovell Grandfather Lem Lovell of Delta confirmed him afterwards Terri daughter of Boyd and Anna Rae Stevens was baptized Saturday evening in Fillmore and confirmed Sunday at Sacrament meeting Here for the special occasion were her grandpar am Please report your Mother’s Day news to Cherryl Wood by Sunday evening Mother's Day Ladies Cherokee Pants & Tops Split Skirts -
