This scholarship program rewards unlike most others that participation tend to reward size speed or skill It was adopted by the Utah Bowling Proprietors Association and it is operated under the Proprietors Scholarship Foundation rewarding participation in the sport of bowling The Grand Prix Scholarship Program is open to all youth bowlers who have not graduated from high school age youths are considered eligible to participate Enrolled young bowlers accumulate “points” in their local bowling center by taking part in league bowling and other related bowling activities Each year the points are converted to scholarship dollars and are then credited under the youth bowler’s name until he or she graduates from high school The more bowling activities in which one participates each year the more points (scholarship dollars) can This assures that be credited IS A WINNER” “EVERYONE In order to get started in the program a youth bowler must apply for registration through the local bowling center The annual registration fee is $200 The youth bowler while accumulating Grand Prix points must be in a local bowling center league program each year until high school in in double OT water registration Swimming The Delta High Swim Team will be hosting its first swim meet of the season on Friday January 22 at the West Millard Community Swimming Pool Delta will be swimming against Cedar City Pineview and Kanab The swim meet will start at 3:00 pm and everyone is invited to come Admission will be free Swimming Pool News Wouldn’t you know it The West Millard Recreation Board put in a new second set of windows and doors in the pool’s front lobby making a breezeway to help keep the pool lobby warmer in the cold weather During the last cold spell water got under the cement in fiont of the new doors and froze making the cement rise and when the cement rose it blocked the new front doors so they couldn’t be opened The pool’s maintenance people had to take a jack hammer and rip out a section of cement and temporarily replace it with gravel which now allows the doors to open The doors are once again useable and the lobby is warm but new cement can’t be poured until the weather warms up Everyone will have to put up with the gravel for awhile Sorry for the inconvenience!! The fifth session of the West Millard Pool’s winter swim lesson program begins Monday January 25 This session will run through Friday February 5 The Delta High Swim Team is looking good Delta's swim tournament Saturday January 9 Delta High hosted an school wrestling tournament which actually should have been called a wrestling marathon A full day of wrestling is what it was Wrestling started at 10:15 am and went straight through to 11:45 pm with one 30 minute break There were many exciting matches and by the time the final round came around Delta still had eight wrestlers going for the championship but the surprise of the tournament was the strength of the Manti team who showed much improvement this year Delta was the tournament champion racking up 261 points Manti took second with
