Andy Fackrell, from the Leg Shakers, said, "Ska is great Bands like Toasters, Ongo Bongo, and Moon Ska records is what keeps Ska going. Many people don't know what it is" Ska is dance music, first and foremost It stems from Jamaican dance music that swept out of Jamaica in the early 1960 only to catch the craze of the hard working and middle class Jamaican before sweeping on to the West Indian immigrant connection, then to the rocksteady, and later, reggae sprang from the loins of ska in the late 1960. Over the years revivals of this popular dance form have kept this music alive and fun through the present The ska beat is on drums and bass, rhythm guitar, lots of horns and maybe a Farfisa or Hammond organ, and that's the ska sound. Ska was not recently invented bands like No by the Doubt, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Reel Big Fish or any other old 90's band. Ska is a forty-yemusic form now in a fresh, vigorous third wave. Ska is rich in history, broad in scope and guaranteed to make you shake your groove. "Awesome! They need to do more punk shows," said Cassidy Wight, very enthusiastic after the show. She was in definite agreement that more Ska concerts need to happen on campus.
