At Olympus Junior High School, its been just that for the past five years, says French teacher Lars Erickson. Mardi Gras, a French term meaning Fat Tuesday, arose from the custom of parading a fat ox through the streets of Paris on Shrove Tuesday the day before Lent begins. The festivals origins can be traced to ancient Pagan rituals. It was modified by Home and later by the Christians. In Rome, Mr. Erickson said, a festival called Lubricolis was celebrated this time of year. "It was nothing more than a wild, abandoned orgy, he said. When Christians couldnt ban the celebration, they cleaned it up a bit, and Mardi Gras descended from there. While Olympus Junior's Mardi Gras is far from a wild, abandoned orgy, Mr. Erickson believes experi The need for a master plan was by such things as Snowbird's proposal to expand its operations into White Pine Canyon, Solitude's request to build MURRAY Bed Wing Shoe Store 4371 So SLite 1 MADE WITH PRIDE IN AMERICA Call about our Im1usbi.il Salety Program y , Coyer.
