Healing roses I Continued From W-- 1 ed the rose garden but also its perpetual care The gift was in honor of the late Sister Ann Josephine CSC a former hospital administrator In addition to the roses there is an attractive fountain with tiles inscribed with the names of every sister who served at Holy Cross Hospital since 1876 The crowning touch to this beautiful garden is an exquisite marble statue from Italy "Madonna of the Street" depicting the Virgin Mary bolding the Christ Child There are more than 600 rosebushes in the garden including new introductions and old favorites The Marie Shields rose a delightful pink miniature is planted around the fountain fence A section of the that surrounded the original rose garden borders the south side of the new garden The garden was de cast-iro- n -- rv F signed by David Backer landscape architect and Boyd Blackmer designed the fountain While the garden is a lovely spot in the city where patients staff and visitors can relax among the roses its most important function is to symbolize ongoing commitment by Sisters of the Holy Cross to provide health care for those who have insufficient financial resources to meet health-car- e costs The mission of the rose garden is to encourage financial support to this charity care through gifts to the Holy Cross Hospital Foundation's active or endowment Charity Care Funds To recognize such donations permanent bronze plaques are installed on a wall within the garden that list names of those who contribute gifts of $2000 or more to assist the sisters in their commitment to care for the poor 7 A Other delinquent activities also indicate a higher risk for early sexual activity Prior involvement in problem behaviors in general increases the likelihood of early sex This overall pattern of problem behavior relating to sexual activity has to do with what has been termed the "Deviance Syndrome" When adolescents deviate from accepted behavior in one area it increases the likelihood they will deviate in another In other words an adolescent skipping school is more likely to be involved in some other deviant behavior — shop-lif- t I' N- ' 111t640n10 school room sewing 25 year warranty PRICE WITH THIS AD $199 Your check or cash or terms welcome VISA MASTERCARD Brand new In factory sealed cartons 4L21:-- &Dwit 1:11trivibtf: MININ CENTER SOUTH STATE 326-163- 1 9450 S 688 E 4742 South 900 East 671-732- 0 962-158- 9 let '1''01 : 1' k 1 r 0 ' f't ' 1 A41 f 't t0'01 '' ' )4 t 13 -- -f -
