" Mr Lee said "But what good does it do to make it then let it sit around? If I'm going to have something like this I want to have fun with it" Mr Lee has always been a car buff In high school Mr Lee had a 1957 Chevy that was all decked out "It was a cherry car and I kept it until I went to Nam" Mr Lee said "Then I told my folks to sell it It sold for 600 bucks" On his return Mr Lee bought two 1920- - and 1930-er- a vehicles for $100 He didn't have time to work on the cars so he doubled his money "Now I think back on my younger days the cars I had and I daydream about what they are worth" But for the moment Mr Lee continues to thrive on the satisfaction he gets from honks thumbs up or smiles from fellow travelers when he is driving down the road in his naturally air conditioned vehicle ::::::: ::: 'i 4- 1 rk ot i - 'Ilt':':1'K''Z r i 0 'i :':f':Il'--''''- 4500:- 7 :' :: :i' ' - as a 1978 Special the year it was ished Mr finB- Lee's restoration project College of Family Life Utah State University LOGAN — How can two people imagine or even expect that they can bring two separate families born of a loss of one par- ent either through divorce or death with separate family r characteristics - moods and cus- toms throw them together and call it a family? Although sounds almost ci NO it im- - - possible many Mr Bee stepfamilies thrive These strong stepfamilies hold together in the face of the daily stress and strain that all families face plus the additional stress accompanying the loss of a spouse and parent and the stress of blending the stepfamily Sometimes these additional issues result in a second divorce But when we think about it it's amazing how many such families survive the nory stress of living under mal one roof and the added challenges of living as a stepfamily day-to-da- The first requirement is to recognize the added stressors inherent in stepfamilies These include the emotional losss that all members of the family are feeling discipline issues roles each of the new marriage partners will be asked to play how the stepparent will interact with the stepchildren financial matters absent biological parents and grandparents All of these items should be discussed prior to marriage This would ease the transition into stepfamily living by preventing them from cluttering the relationships This can be compared to cleaning the house prior to the holidays Most of us do not appreciate having people dropping in and catching us at our worst with a house full of unorganized chaos Similarly people shouldn't marry into a stepfamily without clearing the clutter of past problems or emotional loss It is generally agreed the marriage partnership is the foundation of the stepfamily This relationship must be strong The couple needs to communicate about their expectations for each other as husband and wife as well as parents for the children Living arrangements and extended family relationships sorted - Most researchers caution those who have lost a spouse to put this loss or separation into perspective Come to terms with any issues in your life that might have contributed to the end of the first marriage Let the past go If your former spouse died or left you behind let him or her go and get on with the business at hand Be realistic with your new partner Let your spouse know your sense of loss but don't dwell on it Don't expect your new spouse to take the other's place Even if they want to they can't This must be accepted before the relationships between stepparent and stepchildren can progress Another idea that can ease the transition of becoming a stepfamily is to move into a new house rather than into either family's current home This will prevent members of the family from feeling like they are imposing on or being imposed upon by the others Each member of the new family will be starting off on the same new ground Patience also is vital in building 1 - Lo ' N7--vle- - VIM Ink NMI "Olk r IMF a 411 r JEW AMEN 8:30 am-- i Physicians WEIGHT LOSS CentersT The Physician is available in each Center a minimum of one evening per week 880 I I I L CONSULTATION 2159 572-447- 4 Entire Stock 111111i111 1 1 I I - ©1990 Copyright Physicians WEIGHT LOSS Centers of AM(IfiCa Inc Akron Ohio 44313 0 0001"aeltAkmomeao0norwov I j!!MPMIRMIPTM"11-NPMManMNWW47- - wood piece packaged - i -- pI:itlitik?' - 4 n& -- - 14ti-?'- ' ' -' cl -' i cy off :1 1 S500 Gift Certificate with any TFREE - I I I I TOLE Class Registration VAUD MONDAY JUNE 11TH SOIRDAY JUNE 16TH 1990 ALL DISCOUNT SALES MAL - While Supplies Last NO RAATCHECKSI L--- 8 Locations to Serve You ----i- l '74 DODGE DART EXCEL COND POWER STEERING AIR BLUE III $1600 N r gli Uhl (0 MR A OF SALT LAKE SOLD HIS CAR ON THE 2ND CALL 4 --"--- 'Ark 11 ---- 000-000- 0 CLASSIFIED 237-200- WANT-AD- S 0 D ID KNIIT On Tit Nis 8449 Ol Bolts F WI a 1TM ki Full I - I t 50e SIMPLICITY — NEW LOOK — KWIK SEW I " slot orom AT) 76 (wwite 'UNUnto - -- - 1:4814rlit PAM" OPERATEDBUSINVS' "" 000 INA - - 53 Apit W MalnJ t' ocl VQ Mt I ef ‘ AtCicte DAY DR 4941114Altal twIteDtkvADD 25 150 irt AT oppant- - - 1:61010 CIALILARAIAO 010 "timPur—via - 0: ADDD: Aleirth JUNE 11 THROUGH SAT JUNE 16 " Aortic fa' ADVERTISED ti - 7 i 0 SALE DATES: MON - 7 (41 etY wide 12" to 3" wide Assorted Colors LIMITED TO STOCK ON HAND E A!
