Show I i CLEVELAND j Chris Dawson has more than one j man's share of trouble these days, there j are six in the family down with typhoid I fever, one little girl succumed to the i ravages of the terrible disease. The i rest of the family appears to be on the I improve. They certainly have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community com-munity in their affliction. The stork visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Timothy last week and left them their first babe, a girl. All concerned con-cerned doing well. The seventh boy in the family made his arrival at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Jenson. Jim appears as happy over it as if it was first. Mr. and Mrs. Evan Jones of Butte, Mont, are visiting Mrs. Jones's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Thomas. Mrs. Jones will remain for the winter to place her children in school. The Cleveland Dramatic Co. presented the four act drama, A White Lie, last Friday and Saturday to good houses. The play is a good one and was handled well by the players. Wm. Thurston Brown, the Socialist lecturer of Salt Lake City, spoke here Wednesday evening to a large and appreciative ap-preciative audience. Mr. Brown is a good speaker and well worth going out to hear. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mortensen of Sunnyside are visiting friends and relatives here. John Hardy and wife are visiting Mr. Hardy's parents at Castledale. The company of men who bought the new Red River Special threshing machine ma-chine here have been unable to get it to do its work. The C. W. and M. Co. have sent experts to adjust it but they have given it up. The Y. M. M. I. A. commenced their winter's work Tuesday evening, a good program was rendered followed by dancing. Come boys and get in line at the commencement of the season. Some of our students were over to the play Friday night. President Oveson and wife visited here Sunday evening. We were all glad to see them. Politics are apparently dead in this neck of the woods. The socialists are the only ones that have had a speaker here yet. A party of Government surveyors are making this place their headquarters. They are working on the Buckhorn and Cedar mountains. We haven't seen the electric cars coming through from Wellington yet but we trust we won't have to wait long. The eighth grade of the public school will give a Holloween party Wednesday evening. Look out for the spookers. |
