Show E. S. A. NOTES "When you see a chance to duck, Don't. When you wan't to chuck your luck, Don't. Keep right on without a stop And you'll show up on top, j If just when you want to flop You Don't." ! We had a number of distinguished visitors this last week. Gov. Wm. Spry and State Auditor , Jesse (Honest Abe) Jewkes came and gave our students some fine things to j think about. Gov. Spry showed the advantages of : our present school system and the ad-! ad-! vantage of a good education. Our friend Bro. Jewkes inspired the I students to a cleaner, purer life. Reverence Rev-erence for our mothers and our fathers, respect for the aged and courtesy for our fellow-men. He was once a student of the E. S. A, and the years of climbing climb-ing in the night have only endeared the memory of his Alma Mater. B. J. Peacock, Jr. and A. G. Jewkes, Jr. also addressed our student body with words of appreciation. Call again boys. Keep yourself innocent if vou would be happy. We had a very enjovable Holloween party last Saturday evening. The girls were masked only long enough to be chosen by the boys and after same all were served to a dainty, delicious lunch. You did yourselves proud girls! A few new ones this week. Always glad to see new and old faces. If you ride in our wagon you must be clean boys. Remember your character cannot be essentially injured except by your own acts. Jewkes were the principal speakers. The rally ended with a dance with the E. S. A. orchestra. Saturday afternoon Jesse Jewkes in company with Hon. Badger held a republican re-publican rally in the social hall. We were pleased to have Hon. Jesse Jewkes pay us a visit, as he made a lasting impression among us when he taught our public school a few years ago. Last Friday night a democratic rally was held here. Hon. Thorsen was the principal speaker. The county candidates candi-dates were present. Miss Kofford rendered some excellent recitations. The socialists, not to be out-done, held their rally Thursday night in the ' school house. Mrs. Madison of Manti is visiting ; with her daughter, Mrs. Guy Nelson. i The little six year old daughter of Brig Behunin fell from a buggy last , afternoon breaking her arm. j |
