Show Representative Claude Y. Barnes, is the author of a bill introduced in the house to regulat.- advertisements prohibiting pro-hibiting false, fraudulent or misleading, objectionable or pernicious advertisement, advertise-ment, and providing a penalty for the violation of the law. Section 4 of the bill provides that the following kinds of advertising shill be deemed objectionable and pernicious within the meaning of the act: Advertisements Adver-tisements of sales of "damaged goods" of "fire sales," ot "bankrupt sales," of "wreck sales" and the like, where merchandise not a part of such "damaged," "dam-aged," "fire damaged," "bankrupt stock" or other represented in the ad- vertisement is offered, represented or sold as a part of such stock; advertisements adver-tisements stating former selling values, or present, or former worth, in excess of recognized trade standards of such selling values or worth or where values or worth are stated ?nd represtmted as ! greater than the prices at which the j goods or commodities advertised were sold in the regular course of business j to numbers of persons within a period of eighteen months prior to date of such advertisement; advertisements containing exaggerated or false state- j ments of quantity or quality or where j the goods offered are seconds, inferior1 qualitv, or otherwise not of standard ' quality and such facts are not disclosed in the wording of the anyertisement; advertisements offering for sale anv measurements or other commodity described as of one material or substance sub-stance only, when it is a combination of two or more materials or substances, where the undisclosed material or substance is an adulterant or material ; used to cheapen the merchandise or other commodity ; and all other advertisements adver-tisements designed or calculated to deceive de-ceive or to mislead the persons to whom they are directed.
