Mrs. Davis was quite under the weather weath-er while here and with her recent bereavement be-reavement Btill weighing heavily upon her she was unable to visit very ex -tensively among her friends. Mr. and Mrs. John Bench of Hiawatha Hia-watha met with the sad misfortune of having to part with their little babe Monday last, when it died with spinal meningitis. The babe was a sweet, bright little fellow of four months, and when the mother visited her parents some time ago was -the picture of health. They brought the remains home Wednesday and it was buried Thursday. The entire community feel to extend ihier sympathies to the young mother in her great bereavement. Mrs. Frank Moflitt and Miss Clara Johnson were joined together in the holy bonds of matrimony Wednesday at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Johnson. They gave their wedding dance the same evening. Their many friends extend congratulations. Mr. Henry Davis has returned to his work in Spring canyon, his babe being much better. . There is still considerable sickness in the town. Bert Childs, who wa? summoned home from Cleveland two weeks ago on account of sickness, took with a severe attack of inflammatory rheumatism and has been confined to his bed ever since. He has had no use of his limbs at all, with the exception of his right arm which he has been able to use a little. His wife and two of the oldest children have been quite sick with the colds and fevers that have been going the rounds and the babe has the whooping cough, and to make Shakespear's saying doubly true that "trouble does not come single but by batalhons" a fire broke out in his home Monday last and but for the timely assistance of the two missionaries, mission-aries, Elders Jensen and Anderson of Emery, who were visiting his home at the time, the shock might have proven too much for him in his state of health and left his family homeless, as it happened hap-pened when no men folks were about except the elders, but the brethren showed extraordinary tact and presence of mind, putting out the fire and preventing pre-venting a panic. The Btairway is built back of the flue where the fire broke out, filling the roem above with emoke. Several boards were ignited and burning at a lively rate when discovered. dis-covered. For once at least, the elder3 were appreciated for their visit. Mr. Robert Fail and wife from Preston, Pres-ton, Idaho, are here visiting relatives and friends. Congratulations" Mr. Fail! |
