And don't forget the love she feels from being with her two children, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren, plus her delight with just mingling w ith people. In other words, this tiny young bundle of energy loves life and everyone and everything in it. To chat with Anna Eppstein is to feel the essence . . . of springtime. If the good Lord can continue to grant me a strong body aixl my brains to lead a busy, effective life that's all I can ask." Anna remarked with her eyes sparkling. Salt Lake Home Chicago-bor- n Anna moved to the Salt Lake area from Baltimore, Md., seven months ago, shortly after her husband had died. I have beautiful memories ofhim. It was necessary for me to make many decisions at this time. I decided to sell my big home and move to this area where my family was living. When I came to Salt Lake I felt I had two alternatives. I could just sit in a rocking chair and rock and rock until I would go to sleep or I could get on the telephone and get involved. I decided to get involved. I called the Symphony Guild and the Ballet Guild and told them I wanted to help. I also called the sisterhood group (Kol Ami Jewish organization) and then started the ball rolling for volunteer work at Shriners. Mrs. Anna Eppstein learned to make Pirogen from her mother when she was very young. She serves the tasty meat rolls along with accompaniment, bowl of steaming, hearty, savory soup. Before I knew it I was on the telephone committees for the guilds, attending meetings with the sisterhood and teaching at the children's hospital. "This is the only way I can live. Theres no reason for me to hang around' if I dont extend myself and get involved and busy. No Sitting Anna expressed disdain for those older people of all ages who just sit around with sad faces Thats not for me. I have very doing nothing. definite feelings about love and compassion. If I ever lose these feelings, I dont want to be around. She has had a life of giving. For 45 years Anna taught children in the classroom. "I had to retire at the age of 70 but I didn't want to. I loved teaching and taught all the way from and back down kindergarten through eighth grade again whore I stopped at third grade. This was my favorite age to teach. I felt it was the most important learning period of a childs life. and needed so much They were just guidance. "1 always tried to give them this guidance with and never attempted to fool straight answers them. If they would ask me questions I didn't know the answer to I would say, Come on honey, let's find out.' And off to the library we'd go to discover together. Because of her love for classical music and art, Anna always implemented these as Important parts to her teaching. "Teaching was very rewarding to me.
