Abundant water comes to the residents of Preston from springs at the base of Cub River Canyon; electricity is furnished by the Utah Power and Light Company, which maintains a plant in Bear River Narrows, north of Preston, to 1,333 customers in Preston, and has lines to 97 percent of the homes in the county. Telephone service is furnished by the Mountain States Telephone Company to 1,233 residents and business firms in Preston. Excellent schools are maintained from primary through high school. Each year 84 teachers are hired and 18 busses transport children to and from school in safety. Hens in Franklin county are "joyful critters" and lay 1,340,781 dozen eggs yearly. More than 25,000 choice Franklin county turkey grace Thanksgiving tables in many parts of the nation each year. Mountain ranges rising up to 10,000 feet, with their laughing streams, provide ample recreation for the "Nimrod. These waters provide irrigation for the farms. No better range for sheep or cattle exists. The majority of the farm homes in Franklin county are supplied with electricity, culinary water, telephones, daily mail service and all have radios. Paved and well surfaced roads lead from Presfon, the county seat, to 21 communities within the county.
