He was in the canyon clone, on a cold winter day, cutting and loading logs, when one of the logs slipped from his wagon and pinned him to the frozen ground He was unable to move and after a time felt himself losing consciousness. When his corsciousness was restored, he was sitting on his load of logs and his oxen had drawn them half way down the canyon. The logs were properly loaded and chained to his wagon. He could not account for this miraculous event, except that it was in answer to a prayer he had ulWed whi'e he was held fast on the ground In 1S55 Elder Merrill put chased a faim at Bountiful.
