Show EMERY The Stake Mutual Convention which was held here on September 12th was in. every way a success. The members of the general board in attendance gave many good instructions, the paramount issue being library and gymnasium movement. The local organizations are considering consider-ing the proposition and if possible the old school building will be fitted up in the near future for library and gymnasium gym-nasium purposes. The District school opened here on September 14th with the fallowing teachers and enrollment: W. P. Murdoek seventh and eighth grades 13 enrolle 1TR- E. Johnson fifth j and sixth 23 enrolled; Addie' Hackenson third and fourth 40 enrolled; Agnes Wickman first and second 45 enrolled; Irene Killpack beginners 25 enrolled. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Anderson, entertained the public at a dancing party last Thursday evening, and lunch and beer on Friday afternoonrx Owing to the awful rain storm on Friday afternoon after-noon the crowd was not as large as had been anticipated but those in attendance had a most enjoyable time. Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Williams are visiting in Salt Lake and Utah counties this week. Miss Ruby Williams has gone to Provo to attend the B. Y. U. this season. Mr. J. P. Olsen accompanied his son Elmer to Logan this week where the 1 latter will attend the Agricultural College. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Petty are visiting visit-ing in San Pete this week. Mr. Willard Peacock is running the butcher shop at present. Mr. Clark and son of Provo are here : investigating farms in Emery with in-! in-! tentions of purchasing here. ! Mr. Alma Williams has been appoint-I appoint-I ed town treasurer in place of Emelia ! Williams who has moved to Castledale. |
