Show Feature SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS 16 WEDNESDAY APRIL 1, 1998 Welcome Crazy Jug Restaurant By Barbara Pyles When Crazy Jug Restaurant opened its doors to the public on February 14, it got off to a good start. Located next to the Crazy Jug Motel at S. Main St. in Fredonia, the Crazy Jug Restaurant features home made breads and pastries. Its owners Jim and Barb Kimball said they are focusing on home cookin served by friendly staff in a family type environment. The casual atmosphere makes it a perfect choice for a business or family meal. You want variety? Crazy Jugs restaurant has it. Start your day the right way with a breakfast combination or a hearty stack of pancakes, biscuits and country gravy, along with other items hat will banish breakfast boredom. Its lunch menu offers a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, some served with a choice of soup or salad. The dinner menu has everything from steak, seafood, poultry, and pork to pasta favorites, vegetarian dishes, roast beef, liver and on- ions as well as burgers, salads, and more. There is also a small bar, with all the basics, served alone or with some meals. And lets not forget the delicious fresh-bake- d items: fruit pie, cheese cake, and brownies with chocolate ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup topped with a cherry. Each day of the week has its own Daily Special. Sunday is Senior Day with a 10 discount for senior citizens. No, they havent forgotten the locals. Tuesday is Local Day, Kanab and Fredonia residents receive a10 discount. Another thing to watch for is Holiday Specials. The Crazy Jug Restaurant, cuswhich can hold sixty-fou- r tomers, is an attraction in itself. It is decorated pure and simple in a southwestern and ranch style. The chairs, made of pine, were built by Logs Unlimited in Cedar City. Kimball built the tables. Pictures add a homey touch to the room. Kimball also owns and runs the Crazy Jug Motel. The motel the restaurant and the restaurant complements the motel. When a person spends night at a motel, they look for a restaurant close by, he says. Kimball moved his family to Kanab in November of 1972 to work for the Forest Service. At that time he never gave a thought to opening a motel or a restaurant. But as retirement drew near, Kimball knew that he wasnt the type of person that d could sit on the porch in a ing chair. So, he built the motel, Five years later, he built the restaurant. Kimball manages the motel and the restaurant, doing all of the ordering for the restaurant. Barb Kimball helps out in the evenings if needed, and does the bookkeeping. Kimball laughed. People tell me I work harder now then I did when I worked for the Forest Service. Kimball also owns and rufis Beck Industries Construction Company.
