Show News 1 - by someone nearby. It was the not knowing that was so hard, said Will Guevarra of the disappearance. It was like constantly being drug through it. But answers to Lances disappearance became painfully clear last February, when Will Guevarra received a phone call from Kent Bybee. He told me that Alex (Kents son) had killed Lance, said Will, recounting the horror. I asked him what Alex had done with Lance. Kent Bybee told Will that Alex had buried Lances body in a Field across the street from their trailer, in a little grave over the hill by the Fire ring where local kids often played. ,Alex Bybee was later flown in, and directed authorities to the exact spot where hair, bone fragments and Lances shorts were found. The Guevarras say that knowing their little son was murdered was horrifying. But it was a relief knowing that Lance had been up in Heaven all along, Kimberly Guevarra said in one interview. Hes not only a good cop, said Will Guevarra, but a really good person. They also expressed praise for County Attorney Colin Winchester, who the family said was always willing to go the extra mile. The Guevarras know' that healing will take time. The knowlege that children arent even out of harms way in a town as small as Big Water is disheartening, said Will sadly. I moved here to raise my family in a place I thought would be safe. He says that he continues to puzzle over the what ifs, and how the tragedy couldve been prevented. Sometimes I think so much about it all it hurts. Kimberly said that her sorrow is compounded by the fact that Lance was killed by a close relative. Even after Lance was missing, Alex would come to our house, eat with us, interact with us or borrow cigarettes. It didnt bother him to be here (after he had killed Lance) either, said Kimberly.
