Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS Community Zion ready for spring campers As spring arrives, Zion Na- tional Park campgrounds are being readied for the new sea- son. According to Superintendent Donald A. Falvey, loops in both the South and Watchman Campgrounds will be opened to meet the increasing number of visitors expected over the next six weeks. By mid-Apri- l, demand for the available campsites is such that the campgrounds tend to fill each night, said Falvey. As a result, visitors wishing to camp are encouraged to arrive as early as possible in the day. For the 1998 season, all individual campsites are available on a first-com- e, first-serve- d ba- sis. However, beginning in 1999, the park is planning to have all the sites in the Watchman Campgrounds on the Nationwide reservation system. The new reservation system has been a long time in coming, said Falvey; it will be a real im provement for everyone beginning next year. Falvey stressed that effective immediately, the seven-grousites for parties with 9 or more campers can be reserved by calle at 1 ing Biosperics (2267). The cost of will be reservation a making in addition $2.50 per sitenight to the $2 per personnight currently being charged. All charges will be collected by Biosperics upon the request or making the reservation. Methods of payment include VISA, MasterCard, and Discover. Visitors wishing to make reservations by check or money order may do so provided the reservation is made at least 20 days prior to arrival. All changes of a reservation will be considered a cancellation and $12.50 cancellation fee will be charged. Cancellations made the day of arrival will be charged an additional one night camping fee.
