He will report to the Kanab 4th Ward on Sunday, March 16 at 2:45 p.m. Katherine Abish Johnson and Benjamin Bruce Kenney have chosen Friday, March 21 to be married for time and eternity in the St. George U)S Temple. They, along with their parents, Robert M. and Laura Johnson, and Bruce and JimAe Kenney invite aM friends and family to attend a reception in Mt. Carmel that evening from 7:00-9:0p.m. in the Old Rock Church. Program 0 m will be at 8:00 p m. Ben recently returned from a mission at the Tampa Florida. Spanish speaking mission. Ben is currently a business major, and Katherine is a junior majoring in music. The couple will make their home in the Zion Park Ponderosa Resort on North Fork Road, where Ben has been employed as the resort s activity director. of their daughter, Tnaa Edna to Mr. Timothy Dennis Porter, son of Dennis and Paula Porter of Cedar City. The couple will be married on Friday, March 14 in the St. George LDS Temple. They win be honored at receptions in Orderville and in Enoch. The bride, a 1995 graduate of Valley High School, has served as State Vice President of the Future Homemakers of America and was the regional Sterling Scholar Winner in Family Consumer and Health Sciences. She is currently a sophomore at Southern Utah University with a major m Family Consumer Sciences and a minor in History. The groom, a 1990 graduate of Cedar High School, is currently a senior at SUU with a major in Computer Information Systems and a minor in music. He has won several music awards and currently develops the web pages for SUUs computer internet programs. The couple wiB make their home in Cedar City where they mff continue their i education. Johnson returns Avant called to Philippine Hagan Mission Elder Thomas Wayne Avant has been called by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints to serve in the Philippine Ilagan Mission. He will be speaking in Kanab 6th Ward Sacrament meeting on March 16, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. He will then report to the MTC on March 26, 1997. Elder Avant is the son of Mike and Carla Avant, grandson of Wayne and Leona Whitworth, and Tom Avant and Eloise Avant Lamoreaux, and brother to Janeen Avant. We would like to offer a special thanks to his friends, teachers, relatives, and all others that set good examples and gave words of encouragement throughout the past 19 years. , Elder Derrick Shane Madsen has been called to the LDS Ecuador Quito Mission. He will enter the Missionary Training Center on April 2, 1997. He will speak Sunday, March 16 at 11:20 a.m. in the Kanab 7th Ward. Elder Madsen is the son of Martin and Debra Hortt ofPIeas-an- t Grove, Utah, and Merrill Lamb of Fredonia, and nephew of Robert and Bennie Riding of Kanab. Elder Luke C. Johnson has recently returned from servinga two year mission for the LDS Church in Charleston, West Virginia. He will speak Sunday, March 23, at 1:50 p.m. at the Orderville 2nd Ward. Friends and relatives are encouraged to attend. Luke is the son of Robert M. Johnson and B. Laura Johnson of Orderville. A small get together will be held in his honor after the meeting at the Johnson home. All are invited.
