Its possible. More and more young children are being diagnosed with early symptoms of heart disease, ranging from obesity to dangerous levels of cholesterol and blood pressure. The cause, in many cases, may be traced to all increasingly sedentary lifestyle. The Family and Consumer Life Department at SUU acted as the host of this conference. Three local state officers were in charge of the days events. They were Julie Skougaard (State Secretary) from Valley High; Nicole Fielder (Workshop Chair) from Emery High School; and Collette Pace (Vice President) from Wayne High School. 193 members participated in STAR Events. They were rated on their events and given gold, silver or bronze medals. Work- shops were also available to attend on subjects relating to the environment, stress, families and healthy lifestyles. The LongValley Parliamentary Team received a silver medal. In the Chapter Showcase event, Colette Hoyt, Stacey Heaton and Emily Heaton received a gold medal. ordination. She is an honor student with many interests, and she participates in several extracurricular activities. Joeie is a member of the String Orchestra, FFA, Honor Society, and is President of the Rodeo Club. She plays varsity volleyball and basketball; she has been a player for fouryears. She maintains an A average and is a member of the Student Council. Joeie was Chairperson for the FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team which recently competed in the FFA Region Contest; the team won first place.
