Dorothy May Kirk Hansen BOUNTIFUL Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and Dorothy May Kirk Hansen, age 83, died peacefully at Lakeview Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999 due to complications of a sudden illness. was Dorothy born May 19, 1916, in Tooele, Utah, the daughter of Joseph Hyrum Kirk, Jr. and Nielsina Kristina Rebecca Henefer. Graduated from Tooele High School and the University of Utah. Married Dan Kirk Hansen Dec. 24, 1936 in Denver, Colorado. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Survived by her children: Judith Ann (John) Knight Bountiful; John Alan (Sally) Hansen, West Bountiful; Steven Kirk (Dianne) Hansen, La Sal; Linda Jean (Gary) Zobell, Ogden; Juelle (Keith) Sorensen, Farmington; David Blaine (Melony) Hansen, Farmington; Marian (Jay) Harwood, North Salt Lake and a brother. Clifford Kirk, West Valley City; 23 grandchidlren and 18 She was preceded in death by her husband May 10, 1991, her parents, four brothers and three sisters. Dorothy was a master teacher both informally and formally. She taught many young women of Bountiful how to sew as a leader in the program, in which she was involved for 35 years. She taught Horne Economics at Bountiful Jr. High and served as USU Extension Agent for Davis and Morgan counties. She was a tenured Assistant Professor at USU. She held local, state and national office of the National and Utah Home Economics Associations. Member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Dorothy has lived in Farmington UT for many years and has been a member of the Special Interest Group "The Triple Es." a group of delightful women without partners, who have shared many choice friendships and experiences. She has made her home at addition to having a flair with the written word. Jean enjoyed reading and Jean Elaine Stout Bountiful House since April 1999 in Bountiful Utah, where she made many new and dear friends. The family extends a special thanks to all the residents and Staff for making the last five months of her life so enjoyable. We are deeply grateful to the caring physicians and nurses at Lakeview Hospital. She served as a Temple Ordinance worker in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and held many leadership positions in the LDS Church; the most satisfying of which was leading the Gleaner in Bountiful First Ward. pro-qra- m Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 20, 1999 at the Orchard Chapel, 1280 West 1875 North, Farmington, Utah. Lakeview Memorial Interment Estates. See more obituaries on B.9 Jean was bom in Beaver, Utah, on March 24, 1922, to Wendell S. and Estelle Jensen Stout. She received her primary education in Cedar City, Utah; Medford, Oregon; and Rupert Idaho. She attended high school in Salt Lake City and was a graduate of the LDS School of business. Jean was a tenth generation American. She was a direct descendant of Penelope and Richard Stout who arrived in this country in the early 1600s. Penelope and Richard begat the entire Stout family in the United States, with few exceptions. Jean was the of Allen Joseph Stout one of Brigham Young's bodyguards; and the great grand niece of Hosea Stout Utah's first attorney general. Her grandmother, Cox Stout taught school and was the first Sarah Lucretia in Shonesburg in ss Rockville, Utah. Jean was an executive secretary for Standard Oil Company in Southern California for many years and retired from that company. After moving to St George, Utah in 1970, she worked for Dixie Medical Center and retired from there a few years ago. Jean was hard working, dedicated and generous to a fault devoted a good part of her life to the support of her parents. Jean was an accomplished pianist in She writing poetry. Because of her heritage, Jean is survived by hundreds of cousins. She is also survived by two brothers; Wendell Stout Grant New Mexico, Carlyle F. Stout M.D., Borrego Springs, California, and three nephews; Carlyle F. Stout III, Ashland, OR, James J. Stout Medford, OR and Richard S. Stout Kaysville. Jean wished to be cremated and have her ashes scattered off the Oregon coast A memorial service in honor of Jean be held Saturday, Sept 18, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Garden Heights LDS Chapel, 2220 E. Funeral directors are Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary. 4-- H Ethel Elliott Hight FARMINGTON Ethel Elliott Hight age 99, passed away Monday, Sept. 13, 1999. She was born March 21, 1900, in Provo, Utah, the of daughter George Henry and Bertha Irinda McEwan Elliott. She married Wallace Dreyfus Hight on April 29, 1920, in Provo. The marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. He passed away on May 5, 1975. Ethel lived in Standardville and Spring Canyon, Utah, during the earlier years of married life, and then the remaining years in Farmington, Utah. She was a member of the LDS Church, holding various positions, and loved teaching Primary and Visiting Teaching. She was survived by one son and three daughters: Alan (Mona) Hight Farmington; Norma (Wallace) Allred, Escondido, CA; Virginia (Rex) Creer, Fruit Lois (James) Rasmussen, Walter Bain Kaysville; one (Laurel), Farmington; two daughters-in-laShirley Hight, Fruit Heights; Helen Hight Nevada City, CA. Also surviving Heights; are 28 grandchildren, 68 and 28 great-gregrandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Wallace Earl Hight and John E. Hight and one daughter. Dawn Bain; one grandson and two granddaughters; four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999 at 11 a.m. at the Farmington Rock Chapel, 272 N. Main.
