Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS Sports WEDNESDAY MARCH 31, 2004 Cowboy baseball splits, lose to Parowan, beat Pine View By Dennis Brunner The Kanab Cowboy baseball team split last week, losing a game with Parowan on Tuesday, then beating Pine Views JV team on Wednesday. Kanab jumped out to a 1 first inning lead in the contest with Parowan. After one out, Kade Glazier ripped a double to start the rally. After a second out, Clinton Dowse brought Glazier home with a single. Dowse moved to second on the throw' to the plate. Andy Alldredge followed that hit with another single, bringing Dowse home. 3-- With another throw to the catcher, Alldredge moved up to second and scored the third run on a Matt Rhees hit. After a scoreless 'Second inning, the Rams scored four runs, courtesy of five Cowboy errors, to take a 3 lead. They added four more in the fifth inning on a couple of Ram hits and two more Kanab errors to lead Parowan pitcher Jake Warren settled down and retired nine straight Cowboys before a Ram error allowed George Neff to get on base to leadoff the fifth. Three straight strikeouts finished that inning. Kanabs final chance came in the seventh inning when they managed to push one run across 5-- 9-- 3. the plate. Evan Orton stroked a single after one out. Following a second out, Colton Johnson walked. Kelly Brown beat out a slow roller to load the bases. Kade Glazier knocked in Orton with a dribbler down the third base line that stayed fair. The ining ended on a strikeout with the bases loaded. Parowan scored nine more runs in the top of the seventh to win 18-Kanab was guilty of four more errors in that inning. Senior Cody Brunner pitched into the fifth inning before being relieved by Clinton Dowse. Even though Parowan was a good hitting club, stroking 10 hits, the 12 errors didnt help matters any. Things were a little better on Wednesday in St. George when Kanab led from the begining, then held off Pine View for a 2 Tyler Ramsay and Kelly Brown produced the big runs. Five more runs in the third gave Kanab an 11-- 1 lead. Hits by Dowse, Alldredge, Orton and Brunner were key in the big rally. Kanab added three more in the fourth to finish out their offensive effort, led by Jordan Blasdells triple. Pine View added four runs " a 4.
