Fire managers plan to treat about 735 acres in the Burnt Saddle project area, located just southwest of Forest Roads high-intensi- ty 22 and 425. The Holy Hollow project area contains about 1,800 acres and is south of Indian Hollow, west of Forest Roads 214 and 272. We will use a low intensity fire with this burn and hope to reduce fuel loadings on the forest floor, said Russ Truman, fire management officer for the North Kaibab Ranger District of the Kaibab National Forest. By clearing off that layer, there will be a reduced risk of a crown fire burning in the area. The prescribed fire will also burn off timber litter, allowing new grasses to emerge this spring. Those grasses are a food source for many wildlife species. Ignition will begin in the Holy Hollow project area after Tuesday, March 30 and will Counties. 2004 elections in Coconino County Not only is 2004 a presidential election year, it is also an election year for federal, state and county offices.
