He said that officers were sending youth under 18 home after the curfew siren at 10:00 p.m. who are walking the streets with no apparent purpose. He cited several cases of vehicle tampering, and minor thefts as well as the vehicle theft, and other disturbances in which youth were seen In the vicinity of the transgression. He said the first warning will be documented and subsequent violations will result in custody with the parent to pick the youth up and to appear with himher before the City Justice of the Peace. Habitual violators will be referred to Juvenile Court. He said feedback since the curfew was instigated June 10th had all been positive, and parents had expressed their approval. C ouncil asked about youth under 18 oriving the streets, and Scott said that was more difficult to enforce since they went out of the city limits. But Count ll said that when possible, thev should be sent home or taken into c ustody. Both Council and Scott said that common sense should prevail, and when artivites (dances -- ballgames) are on and on weekends the curfew should take these into consideration.
