A luncheon was served and door prizes given. Loma Simper won the door prize for the ladies and Kent Brighton won the mens prize. We invite all of you back for the after Thanksgiving dance to be held this Friday night, Nov. 29, and bring a friend. The lunch committee wishes to thank all those that helped furnish the food for the dance Friday night. Remember, the Center will be closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. One hundred-sixtpeople enjoyed the Thanksgiving dinner at the Center Monday. Dick Ufford entertained those present by singing two songs and reciting a poem about a six shooter given to him by his dad. The gun was given to his dad by an old fellow he had befriended. Thanks, Dick. Thursday, Dec. 5, the representative from Social Security will be at the National Guard Armory to help those that need help of any kind concerning their Social Security. Water pipes near an exterior wall or in the attic are especially susceptible to cold and are more likely to freeze. Here are some other tips from the experts at State Farm Insurance about how to prevent your pipes from freezing Insulate pipes that are vulnerable to cold air. Wrap heat tape approved by an independent testing organization, such as Underwriters Laboratories Inc , around the pipes If practical, use an indoor valve to shut off and dram the water supply to outdoor faucets This will prevent freezing in the pipe that runs from the outside faucet to just inside the house. Keep water dripping or trickling from the faucet farthest from where a water main enters your house usually located near your water meter. This will keep water moving through your plumbing and discourage freezing If your pipes arent insulated in an exterior wall near a sink, leave open cabinet doors beneath When the weather's cold it's time to insulate water pipes to guard against freezing. the sink to allow warm air in. If you plan to be away for a few days, keep your heat on high enough to discourage the pipes from freezing.
