Show 20 Vernal ExpressRdvertiser Wednesdoy, November 6, 1985 Community School to n begin Nov. 11 Tumbling for children, beginning computer and painting classes are scheduled to begin Monday, Nov. 11. These classes are offered through the Community School Program of Uintah School District. Tumbling for 5 year olds will be held on Tuesday, one class from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and another from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tumbling for 8 year olds will be Thursday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Both are held in the gym at Central Elementary School, 250 South Vernal Ave. They will last 6 weeks. Please register by phone before the class begins. Beginning computer will begin Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Discovery Elementary. There are a limited number of openings, so please register before the class begins by after 5 p.m. This is also calling a 6 week course. 4-- 6-- getter, Michael Matheus, single handedly gathered nine new members for Central Schools PTA. CHAMPION PTA membership 789-358- 5 Generations of family join Central PTA The theme, PTA, a Family A- ffair, was taken seriously by the families of students at Central Elementary School this past month. Mrs. Radkes morning and afternoon kindergarten classes tied for first place in recruiting the most PTA members for the school. They were honored with an ice cream party at the end of their classes Oct. 25. Michael Matheus, a student in Mrs. Radkes afternoon class managed to enlist nine of his family members as PTA members, representing three generations of the family. These included his parents, four grandparents and three great grandparents. Michael was also recognized for getting the membership of the person farthest away; his great grandfather m Flint, Michigan. There were 29 grandparents who joined Central PTA, including some from California, Arkansas, Washington, and Iowa. Two other boys at the school who are cousins, Mrs. Moore from Christopher Radkes class, and Jason Sullivan of Mr. Lances 5th grade class, were responsible for seven membership including their parents and grandparents. At the conclusion of the membership drive, PTA membership vice president, Laraine Wood, expressed her appreciation for all the support and the faculty at Central. There was an increase of nearly one hundred members over last year, and 100 percent of the teachers as well as one cook at the school joined the PTA. given by parent, students Lorna McKee Phone 247-235- 0 Painting classes will begin Monday, Nov. 11. Tole painting for continuing students will be held Monday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Landscape oil painting will be held Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tole painting for beginners will be held Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. All of these are 6 week courses, held at Central Elementary School. the various departments at Vernal Junior High who are judged on citizenship and scholastic achievements for the months of September and October include; Chara Serre, Charlene Bales, classes, please call p.m. - 789-358- 5 after Jim Goodrich, formerly of Tridell, was made Bishop of Orchard 4th Ward in North Salt Lake Sunday. Members of his family going to Salt Lake Sunday to the sustaining of Bishop Goodrich were Mr. and Mrs. Rae Goodrich, Mr and Mrs. Ray Haslem, Bishop and Mrs. Jerry Goodrich, Randy, Kerry, Gene and Russell Goodrich. Mr and Mrs. Ray Haslem are the happy grandparents of a new granddaughter. Parents are Jean and Ron Ruiz of Napa, Calif. The baby was born Oct. 28 and weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz. and will be named Amber Dawn. The Ruiz family now have 3 little girls. This makes 12 grandchildren for the Haslems Mr. and Mrs. DeVear Ross, Salt Lake, were weekend visitors with the DeVon McKees. Mr Ross came out to enjoy the pheasant hunt. Mr and Mrs. Ernest Ahlborn returned last week from Houston, Texas where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ahlborn for three weeks. Jean Brooks and children, Grand Junction, Colo . spent the weekend with the Clark McKees. Leon and Shirlie Simmons spent the weekend in Tridell. The Simmons reside in Layton. Halloween was a big night in Tridell as ghosts, goblins and witches went from home to home Fred Bartlett went to California this past weekend and brought home his two children Kikie and Zita. Lynn Kitchen, American Fork, spent the weekend at the Paul Kitchen home. He, too, came to go pheasant bunting. Ethel Goodrich went to Roy, Utah, she Thursday with Tess Lemon where visited Mr. and Mrs. Larry Goodrich.
